Repair or reinstall Windows Update

If you do not want to mess with Windows update, here is a really simple way to go. Go to the linked page and scroll down and there is a link to WSUS Offline Update. It is a seperate web site that has a small package you can download and run from your computer that will get all the updates you need, and allow you to select the parts of the system you want to update. Cool thing is, it allows you to save them and you can make iso files, and send it to a USB drive so you can update other computers as well. It is a nifty way to get around the slowdown in Win7 update and seems to work really good. Here is a link to a YT video showing how to use it, it is very simple:

Thank you for your post I find it helpful. I was fearful to do the update so I went ahead and bought a new PC with the windows 10 already installed. So far everything is smooth but I will use this information for my other computers. Cheers!

Congrats, you now have absolutely no privacy. MSFT knows everything that happens in your computer including all your personal information, internet habits, buying patterns, online banking habits, and MSFT will sell it to the highest bidder (in addition to providing it all to the feds.) Cheers!

I am of the mind they are doing a mega Google impersonation, and will sell aggregate data, as well as individually targeted data to companies, as well as feds. They can't make money in software, so why not information? Seems to fit everything. The good thing is you can still turn off a lot of the MS spy network, supposedly. I will stay with Win7 until they quit updating it, and maybe past that. You still have 3 patches to make sure you block, if they get installed you might as well have Win10.
