Whole Foods is on record for many liberal positions. So the story did not line up well with reality.

I.E Whole Foods would not tell an employee "sabotage the cake" or anything else. Consider the poor baker just doing their work, I seriously doubt a baker would give a rats A@@ about it, and how would they know? Unless the customer does the "in your face" routine, which some do, for various reasons. Even then, I do not see most people risking their jobs for some petty insult, and there are a much better assortment of slurs available anyways...

Oh, so many holes to fall in here... My question was, with the clear wrapper, and the guy looks down at it at the counter, he didn't notice it? Bought it anyways? Really?

"FAG" written in the middle. Really? If you are going to write a slur, I could think of several a little more aggressive than that...

Tell me about it, 40K down the drain, I won a 138K judgement and the guy hid all his money (over 1 million) and the BK court cannot find it's a@@ with a Rand Mcnally atlas, and says, well..we tried, and took everything we found to pay for their "costs". Net result= 0. No profit in trying to use the law, unless you can do a better job with the cake thing and make sure you are not taped...

I meant to imply that people can be evil, and only the actions of companies instituted by people (vs the companies) are evil.

Oops!! Only some people are evil and there are companies which did evil things. Be an individual (i.e. use your own head) and judge individual cases, would be my advice.

When the original story/complaint aired a colleague of mine showed me a photo of the cake. It was clear that the slur was not the same as the other lettering. The color matched but the letters were thinner - as though the offender had put down the tube and found one with a smaller opening. It looked stupid. We laughed about it. And, yes, the boxes are clear on the top.

Frankly...this is pathetic, that this even made the news to start with. America is just swirling around the porcelain bowl...

Retailing today has become the same as a trip to a Vegas casino. Only it is the house that always loses.

The really sad part of the story is lawsuits today are the sport of kings. A company like Whole Foods can afford it, but the little guy can’t because the little people are priced out of the court system. It would be interesting to see from where the funding for Brown came.

This is precisely the kind of behavior people forget about when asserting various unfairness claims and proposing legislation.

People are evil. Companies are not evil.

Even without the video there a lot of holes in this guy's story.

For example, how would they know he was gay in order to write the alleged slur? Also, I'm pretty sure those cake boxes are transparent on top (you can see just about the whole top of the cake) so how did he not notice it at the store? Etc.
