Why? The $15 an hour minimum wage is too much for their budget. Left wing fascist socialists say one thing do another....

Who will clean the crap spots in their safe spots now?

    You need to provide a link. I searched for Lakoff several ways. He is a linguist from Berkeley. So, you do not like him. That much is fine, but your headline here leads nowhere.

      I have no idea what the OP has to do with Lakoff. His book Don't think of an Elephant was popular in 2005 after President Bush was elected fair-and-square for the first time in 2004. It was a short book that read like somewhat disjointed essays arguing that Democrats were losing elections not because of their ideas but because they didn't have a consistent framing narrative around their ideas. The Republicans, OTOH, had a long-term machine to "frame" issues in their favor.

      Maybe the one part I agree with is the Democrats operate on a laundry list of little problems they'll fix for you with no central ideology. Lakoff says Republicans central ideology is authoritarianism, a "strict father" model for gov't. I see the "strict father" thing as being incidental to their main ideas, which are redneck fear and confusion and white collar desires to get gov't out of their way. The two groups don't naturally go together, and now we see them coming apart.

      Lakoff. He is one of the finest plagiarists around and had made fortune off the secular progressives giving them their marching and thinking orders. I spent a long time and some money dissecting his major manual and was able to winnow out some of their major strategies and tactics as a result. Chief among them is the Money as Free Speech Scam. In it's final phase they will once again find a lawsuit, a friendly bought and Soros paid Judge and buy an amendment to the Constitution one more time. Nothing new there. The current effort is directed at 'direct access using money' to candidates and sitting officials elected or otherwise without having to go through Pacs, SuperPacs and other LLC type organizations.

      Do not like him. True more than anyone his party sent me out to kill I had respect for the NVA Lakoff has no where near their stature. Slime comes to mind.

      And plagiarist is intentional not one original thought

    They should fight global warming and shut off all the lights and mechanical systems on campus. That would probably save them several million dollars each year...

    The University of California at Berkeley must eliminate 500 janitorial and food service jobs over the next two years. They simply will not fill the ones that open up from attrition. Also, two years from now, some or many of those may not be eliminated if new funding covers them. No one is clearing out their locker. This is just a budgetary forecast.

    The $15 minimum wage is not significant, as these people make that much now. Plus, they have benefits.

    If you read the article you will see that this is a 6 percent reduction over two years.

    Finally, whoever or whatever George Lakoff is, he is just one professor in a school full of similar voices. And those voices do not control the school. The management and administration is under a board of regents appointed by the governor.

        Nice run of words, Michael A. I must say that your narrative style gives evidence of a deep and abiding creativity. Sometimes, I cannot connect the dots. I chalk that up to your creativity. I understand. People accuse me of the same incomprehensibility, though they seldom credit me with creativity, just senility.

          I am honored to be counted in such company. Off hand you remember where in Government of Politics we archived those three or four go rounds on the Cruz -birther- Trump nonsense. I just did one of those a week or so ago but it' s such nonsense not sure where it got filed. We have another 'righteous' who does not like to do research at our door.. Must be a millennial
