Two Proposals To Stop The Government Looting

we will start here: "First, move Tax Day from April 15 to November 1 so it will never be more than a week from a national election.

Have you ever noticed how Tax Day is almost exactly equal distance after the last November 1st and before the next one? Perhaps it’s not an accident. Half a year leaves enough time to forget our anger at the past election and it’s far enough from the coming one that other issues will obliterate our memories of the anger at Tax Day. So connect the two tightly. Just when everyone is most ticked off at taxes they can enter the polling booth and take it out on their oppressors.

But, you protest, too many folks will think, “I’m happy ‘cause I’m getting a refund!” not appreciating that the government took dollars and have them back dimes. So what do we do about this?"

I agree with both points and would add a few more: - like teaching - thoroughly - in school how to understand taxes and tax filings; and a summarized breakdown to make it clear what has been withheld, what taxes were owed, what taxes were paid, and what welfare was given on the tax returns.

Too many people have such little understanding of what they are actually paying or getting... no idea. Thinking and real educating are the answer - no wonder our education system has dropped these ideas!

I actually went thru three levels of coursework to learn the tax code. I think everyone, who has time, should go thru at least the first level.

That's interesting. What coursework did you study? I must say, I'm not a tax expert by any means, but have managed to do my own bookkeeping and tax filings for a sole proprietorship, LLC, S-Corp, and C-Corp. I have managed to understand quite a lot from researching online and reading IRS publications on the various forms I've filed. I think I have an advanced understanding compared to the general public, but would not scratch the surface of a competent CPA. I know enough to see how little most people understand about the subject though ;) Like, most people don't have a real clue about how "write-offs" work or how they compare to individuals itemizing or even taking standard deductions. Or, like how many people think they pay income taxes because they have withholding, even though they get it all back - and in many cases get even more back via credits when they have their taxes filed. It's so frustrating to me and allows so many people to hold such a twisted idea of businesses that magically live off everyone else via "write-offs". ARG!!!!

Agree with the 2nd point. Businesses should not be agents of the IRS. That is what businesses are as tax collectors of withholding. That also has led to businesses refusing to hire anyone who has no
    federal government id number.
In a free market a person seeking work with the talents to perform that work and willing to accept the job as offered by the business should be hired without federal government permission.
But today a business must get federal permission to hire anyone. The federal government does not allow anyone to take a job without their permission. Permission requires the person's consent to the social security contract. This consent changes the status of that person from free man to serf.
