when my husband and I first married, I had a sales job, which I bemoaned-heck I wanted to remain pure as a writer...ha...grew up quick. I had to buy some clothes-I couldn't o to appts looking like my anne of green gables self(I made most of my clothes-blouses and skirts-pants are just hard to make) anyway, he took me out and helped me pick the best wardrobe ever. The base was an off white suit-jacket a-line skirt. He paired that with a turquoise silk blouse, a printed skirt that matched the jacket and blouse, 3 scarves to accessorize with and two more blouses-I think one was a print and one was black. The mileage I got out of that wardrobe! and yes, db is an alpha male....

On Saturday the 3rd of May our young niece married her long time friend since 1st grade and we attended both Wedding and Reception. I took Mama shopping and picked out (yes you heard right ) picked out 2 beautiful suits for her. One light green the other a light purple and we danced. Maybe not as many or as quick, but holding her was better than not.

This entitled attitude can traced back to public schooling. And I think I just accidentally flagged this comment. Damn kindle. :(

Yes. The old yin and yang. But, that's the challenge, isn't it? My son would never let anything stop him. He once told me that if you set your goal, and there's an obstruction, you go under, over, through or around. It always worked for him and it made me realize that it's what I had been doing, and perhaps I set a good example without even doing it consciously. What troubles me is the sense of entitlement that we see so much of in many young people today. The so-called millenials. You graduate, rise to the top and enjoy an early retirement. A straight line up. If you encounter a bump, rage at the machine and drop out. I guess I'm rambling off topic, but I can always shrug it off as old age pre-dementia.

Lots and lots of happy memories. But life doesn't let anyone off the hook. like the song says "I never promised you a rose garden...".

She rightly loves more about you than the dancing which you shared. You are worth so much in her eyes, and she carries all that joy with her. My dad is a widower, coming up on 5 years, and he lost his dance partner. I will, as he does, cherish the memories if them dancing, always.

Sorry to hear that, Herb. But, she's still there and you, obviously, still have your mind and the memories. Revisit them together with the good old tunes playing. Should be fun, again.
