One for me, nineteen for the IRS

I just got done paying taxes for my wife and I, for each kid, for each kid's trust, for my parents, for my mom's yearly estate bill, and for her estate (or as the IRS puts it, exit taxes) tax.

I think I need a little therapy.

Hi John! I'm doing as well as can be expected while being surrounded by public servants who are certain that I personally am responsible for their total support. All while they remind me several times a day how much "big Bro" is doing for me.

I didn't need an extension, since I had Form 1040 downloaded & printed at Office Max. But thanks for the advice anyway.

I would be happy to meet with any Gulch members if & when they are on St Thomas. Just give me a call at 540-547-6816. If you let me know what you want to do in STT/STJ, I'll be happy to arrange it for you. I know the best people in watersports on the island, or if you just want to relax at a sparsely-populated beach, I know the best ones.

If you lose my phone number, just go to or call up Hull Bay Hideaway, and ask for the Professor.

You might be in luck--Project Appleseed is pretty much nationwide. You can find us at RWVA.org, which stands for Revolutionary War Veterans' Assn. My home range is actually (believe it or not) Sacramento Valley Shooting Range, but like I said, we're a nationwide group (of volunteers!) I hope that cheers you up, thinking about not only how many volunteers we have (strong since 2006), but the 10s of thousands of attendees we've had two days with--teaching them rifle and about our when marksmanship and history met, our heritage began. In California alone, we now can boast to having awarded Rifleman status (expert, on the Army Qualification Test) to over 800 people of the thousands we've taught. So chin up--we're working to restore our most noble heritage. Hope we see you at the range someday!

I wish I had known you before I visited that area three summers ago. Perhaps I'll see you on a visit there in the future.

    File an extension.

If you download the files, you can fill them out in Adobe Acrobat.

I should have stopped by you on my recent cruise. We visited St. Thomas and St. John. There were three boats flying pirate colors in Charlotte Amalie.

LOL. No, I hadn't heard of that. I guess it would be like one of the old TV bricks made out of foam so that you don't break your TV after listening to what comes out of it.

You probably already knew it, but it's definitely worth repeating: Taxation Is Theft.

May I suggest a weekend at your local Project Appleseed? As a volunteer rifle instructor and story-teller (of our first day as "Americans," April 19, 1775), I can tell you that this is my therapy, and works like nothing else. And now Groupon is making this whole event even more ridiculously affordable--$40 (plus range fees) for a two-day rifle marksmanship program and the story of Lexington and Concord. Being around like-minded people who reject tyranny and want to return to the principles of our founding, is very renewing.

I spent the better part of three years divesting, re-organizing, selling (at a loss) and disposing of every source of taxable income, just so that I could live a life free of the IRS. Now all my income is tax exempt and until this year I have not been required to file a 1040 for a couple years.

But now, thanks to a "service" I don't need, desire or want (Obamacare) I am once more required to file a 1040 in order to establish that I and my wife have medical coverage. I get all my medical services through the VA or from any nearby Army base hospital. My wife has the same access as I do plus she can go to any civilian hospital at VA expense.

So I had government insurance, paid for by the government, but for some reason the IRS can't dial up my SSN to see that without my spending hours chasing around to fill out forms that say I had no income, I paid no taxes and My medical is provided by a governmental agency.

I so want to not communicate with the IRS - EVER, but now I'm forced to once again.
