Teachers continually say they hadn't read these assignments. This begs the question who is providing this material and what makes that person/those people qualified to educate our kids? If teachers aren't teaching or they are promoting a classroom agenda (I've caught this first hand) then why the hell are they being paid?

I agree completely inappropriate. Children need to learn facts and figures from school, not feelings. Emotional growth is something that occurs naturally, it doesn't fare well in a lesson plan.

Completely inappropriate subject matter, but we'll be seeing more and more of these types of "comprehension" reading assignments that delve into very personal and private matters hoping to invoke conversations...hence instilling the idea that home events are the schools' business and nothing is private. There is NO other logical reason for these types of assignment when there is a myriad of other topics that can be written about to expand comprehension skills. And someone IS and should be held accountable for this paper being handed out. If the teacher didn't read it first..that tells us all we need to know about that teacher and she needs to go. Why isn't THAT on the 'no tolerance' list for school behavior??
