I have been observing, from a safe distance, what has been going on in Europe - trying to wrap my head around it. I was grabbed by the footage of school kids handing out flowers to the refugees as they entered Germany. For some reason, it reminded me of that famous footage of the elderly French man crying and waving a flag as Hitler's tanks rolled in. (Anybody else ever see that footage?) I have been asking myself - Why would people there allow such an influx? Is it purely altruism run amok? Why are the elected officials in the European nations pushing their own people so hard to be tolerant, accepting? Why, in cases like what happened in Cologne, would the men and police not react when women are being sexually assaulted out in the open? Then, I heard a word used to describe it, "cuckold". So far, that appears to be the appropriate word. The people are expected to just lay down, expose their vitals, and do it with a smile. But, then comes the question of the leaders all forcing this. A while back I heard the story that Hitler had sent his officials into Paris to bribe the officials and police to have them just lay down when Germany rolled in. I can't help but wonder if that is what has happened here. Could it be that some interest that has both money and the ability to kill and maim make the European officials an offer they can't refuse?

What are your thoughts on this? Perhaps I have trouble with the concept that people, en masse, could all be this stupid. Put into historical context this could very easily be seen as an invasion with severe, long-term effects.
