We’re on tour spreading the word that “Atlas Shrugged 3: Who is John Galt?” is coming. Our first stop in Louisville, KY for FreePAC was a tremendous success. What’s the next stop on our tour? You tell us.

Do you know of a great event where Atlas Shrugged should be represented? Let us know and we’ll add it to our list of tour stops.

Haha. Your Friday huh? You must be a shift worker. I'm not picking on you: been there, done that - 12 hour shifts that was really 14 hour ones by the time I got off, weekends, holidays, birthdays....I did my time.
Hopefully, you'll soon be able to get out of it, should that be your case.
Yes, the $4.50 was for the local beer & my fave: Alaskan Amber Ale. That, and my favorite warm-up drink at the time: Long Island Iced Tea. Cheers!

If I had to guess. Like I said, haven't been there. But that's probably about the rate for a good local beer. I don't have much of a taste for cheap fizzy swill with big advertising campaigns meant to fool people into thinking that they actually make a quality beer.
I would much prefer a German-style hefeweizen with a slice of orange. Hmmm, it is my Friday...

Houston is as humid a place as I've ever been to. Austin is less humid for sure, although the liberal mecca of Texas. In its defense, I can say that in Austin I could have a spirited political conversation with pretty much anyone and not fear that my car was going to be keyed, etc. In Portland, that is NOT the case. This place is an asylum for uber nutcakes!

I've been to Houston, Dallas, and Temple for business. My brother in-law is from near Dallas and he has family still there. Flew into Austin and drove to Temple once and found Austin very traffic jammed (worked in Temple for a few weeks that trip). My trips to Texas were all work and little play and didn't get to enjoy much of Texas at all, much to my disappointment. Had one free afternoon in Dallas with an engineer, who is as much a science nerd as me, and we decided to go see some dinosaur tracks. Arrived at the park just before it closed, took a quick look, then beat it back to catch a flight home.

RE: Ratio of men and women in Alaska
Not 4 to 1 anymore, pretty close to half and half, I think.
However, among the women, the ratio *is* about only 1 woman in four that any self-respecting man would dare to touch. Lucky for me, I brought a wife with me. :-)
As for Chilcoots, I've never been in there, (not a fan of $6 pints at a bar when I can make a pint for about 50 cents at home) but I've heard plenty of stories; thus the surprise. Good joke. I shoulda known.

There are exceptions to - well, to almost everything. I've got cousins in Rochester and Syracuse. We need more of you and less of my commie-lib cousins. C'mon down, the water's fine.

Gosh, y'all make me feel unwelcome. I have some family and friends in FL but am born, raised, and currently hunkered down in the Peoples Republik of NY (Upstate). Am seriously contemplating going Galt in East central FL (Daytona or Melbourne region). I will not encroach, but will pay my own way, including pay cash for my house, and will NEVER vote collectivist. Should I be looking in Tennessee, Texas, or Arizona instead?

A 2nd for Portland. I live in east county (little south America) and I could use an intelligent diversion.

haha. J/K. I don't believe Chilcoots would entertain AS. But the Gulcher's I'm sure, would appreciate the beer and the 1/3 pound burgers that they serve~ That's right, I was among few who actually ordered Chilcoot's food offerings while scanning the crowded area for chicks. :P

Is it still a 4 to 1 ratio of men to women?

Anyways, those days were over 1/2 my lifetime ago. Time flies.

Ain't it the truth. I'm on the west coast of FL. and so far we've been fighting off the encroachment.

Unfortunately, that's what has become of legislatures. The lobby is no hobby when it comes to handouts or preferential treatment. Perhaps you just weren't "saintly" enough.

As I live near Corpus Christi, it's hard for me to figure what's happening in those cities. For D/FW, you need to check with sdesapio. Any Gulchers from SAnt, Hou, Aus, feel free to chime in.
