Straight, I grew up next door to that town and in many ways our towns were somewhat identical. Same kind of layout _ where main street really means THE main road going through town, same population, supporting the surrounding farm community, not much crime. I will say in recent years there have been increases in meth production which has affected the rental market to a degree, but violent crime is RARE. The absurdity of this boggles the mind. The community must be really angry. I mean, everyone on the police department knows most everyone in town. I cannot imagine where the money came from to buy it or how it will be used. As the article said -hardly a terror target

I don't know. Trying to roll up the streets at 9:30 on a Sat night was getting really dicey when I departed Iowa in '03. I think that there was even a dog barking! ;-)
