"Actor Rob Lowe, who recently said the government should be “out of almost everything,” doubled down on his views Wednesday in an entertaining interview with Bill O’Reilly.

When O’Reilly pressed him about his political views and his “pinhead” friends in Hollywood, Lowe elaborated on his recent comments while at the same time trying to avoid being labeled by a specific ideology.

“Equality for everyone is great,” the actor said. “I just think that individuals usually do a better job than collective big government.”

For the most part, that's definitely a very true statement. In a vast majority of instances, productive economic enterprise has been shown to become highly unproductive whenever government tries to participate in it. Though at the same time, there are some things which I do think should remain under the control of government, such as police, fire fighters, prison systems, youth correctional facilities, and so forth. Also, space programs like NASA would most likely need government funding, since they typically don't turn a profit on their own, and therefore would be unable to sustain themselves without government assistance. But outside of those few very clearly specified instances, the government should absolutely leave the market alone, and leave individuals free to produce.
