There once was this guy named Eich.
He was pretty smart.

He worked for a famous corporation making web applications.
While there, he came up with a computer language that added really cool interactive stuff to web pages.

He eventually got appointed CEO of that famous corporation.
At least for a couple of days.

Until, of course, he was outted as an evil hate-monger.
Then he was righteously and unceremoniously sacked.

But, hey, that famous corporation that Eich helped start and added immense value to with his language JavaScript?
They've got no problem keeping the fruits of Eich's evil, evil, stupid, evil, hate mongering mind.

So, I say they should just rebrand JavaScript as... MiracleScript.

MiracleScript!
Running today at just about every web page you visit or might ever visit!

Fuck Eich!
Fucking hater.

Freedom is not served in either case. People should not be legally prevented from signing marriage contracts (if they believe those contracts are beneficial) regardless of their gender preference, and people who disagree should not be persecuted for their beliefs and opinions.

They weren't his patents/property to begin with so the analogy is broken. I think the way he was treated was disgusting and I think Prop 8 was quite disgusting as well. While I am dismayed someone I admire like Eich voted for it, it is not something that he should have been hounded out of his position for.

I am lesbian and I still say this was a disgusting spectacle and outcome.

I was referring to Rearden's patents, not Eich's. As Readen was, Eich was effectively blackmailed to force him to resign.

He had long ago assigned the patents. How heartbreaking it must be to watch your brainchild turn against you. Marc Thiessen just made astatement praising his contributions to technology and to the world. This is clearly a shtug moment. Doesn't look like he's going to walk away.

Now, now. They didn't "sack" him, that would be illegal. (As the wetnurse said, "that would be theft.") They just treated him like the SSI treated Rearden to get him to sign over the patents.
