When they came out a couple weeks ago and said they would exempt those from paying a fine if they had trouble signing up, I thought about visiting the site then quitting in the middle of the process just to have an “out’ with the IRS. I don’t attend to sign-up for coverage ever, but I could say I had a hard time signing up. Who is to know the difference if I visit the site and start the process?

Well...I would know, so I didn’t, but I can’t be the only one who thought of doing this. I imagine there are going to be quite a few this month that have no intention of ever paying a premium. I feel sorry for them. They will be hounded to death by e-mails, and telephone calls by health insurance peddlers.

Idiots. It’s only a 1% fine this year. Big deal. What’s the rush?

I was talking to someone the other day who said he went on the site back in October to check the rates. His insurance was better and cheaper and hadn't been cancelled so he decided to keep it. He got a call a couple of weeks ago from someone wanting to know if he needed help completing the form. He explained the policies were too expensive and he wasn't interested. He was told he had to notify them in writing if he wasn't going to buy thru the exchange. I wonder how many people like him are included in the 7 million?
