I wonder how many fans of the comic strip get the reference to the two philosophers?

I so identify with this comic strip that I named my 1966 Sunbeam Tiger "Hobbes"!

Resnick and Halladay included Pogo in one of the end-of-chapter review questions in their Physics I text! Loved it!
    A problem on center-of-mass...:)
    Um... 1964 or so!

Love Space Man Spiff and his adventures.
Reminds me of my wandering imagination back in grade school...

Calvin and Hobbes is deep as well as funny. It makes it worth reading for me- I like my humor with a side of brain-food. I have most of the collection.

Calvin and Hobbes touched that side of my humor that made Pogo my favorite comic when I was a kid.

    Right out of Atlas.
Calvin and Hobbes were my favorite philosophers next to A.R. Another great cartoon philosopher was Walt Kelly, and before them, Al Capp. In the case of Capp, most folks didn't realize they were reading satire unless Capp was drawing his cartoon within a cartoon, Fearless Fosdick, a very obvious take-off on Dick Tracy.

He did because of the syndication requirements (might be a great topic for discussion on owning the products of one's mind). This is all the old stuff.

ha ha. It's easy to fall into that thinking in little ways, and when it happens we aren't so obvious as to say aloud "the ends justify the means". That's part of what makes it funny.

Good one! When I subscribed to a newspaper, Calvin & Hobbes was the first comic I read. Always funny!
