But that is the point: he is confirming things that we only assumed. He is 'the smoking gun' that we all waited to find. Without him, all we can do is speculate, and fall prey to ridicule.
That's what I keep saying! Peter King and his "he's endangering American lives..." How so?? Typical gov scare tactics...and the sheep slurp it up. Judge Napolitano is the only one making ANY sense on this.
Things that are legal are not necessarily constitutional. Snowden may have broken the law, but if he holds to a higher more moral law... Frankly I am still waiting to hear something he has disclosed that wasn't already assumed. The only thing he has done was confirm what we all knew anyway.
I understood the point of the article as well as the systemic problems in the US. I was commenting on the proposed solution. as well, I disagree with the author that bloggers and contributors to sites such as this one miss the forest for the trees. (my interpretation) discussing ideas and policies rationally is not "bellyaching" and occasionally people get to sound off about the things that really upset them. anger can be a good thing. Rand has spoken at great length about this. competing govt institutions will fail because it will create a war. No one has the authority to decide, therefore it will create civil wars. I do believe the idea of independent city states is very clever. overlapping jurisdiction must be addressed first. btw, shruggin in argentina posted it this morning.
So there's a way to fix stupid sheep? They'll eventually start listening to reason instead of emotion even though they are indoctrinated from every angle starting at birth? And they will stop being enticed by freebies and vote for responsibility instead? And the reward of freedom is only decades away?

You missed the entire point here and that is that in a very clear and "diplomatic" way, the author of the article has stated that the masses were successfully turned into sheep/slaves by the shadow government/elite because it was done veeeery slowly, it took mass infiltration in every aspect of our lives, and it has taken decades or more to accomplish. The opposite incentivizing can also be done over the same period to live the lives 'we' choose. People do not change overnight. Blogging and belly aching will accomplish NOTHING. Can you imagine a graduate's mic being cut off in the 1950's at graduation for making patriotic comments as it was purposely done in the "Land of the Free" just recently??!! And what did the audience do???
ok, we get it, you're a fan of city state and cato unbound! I'd like to point out Cato's and the libertarian's dismal view on intellectual property rights which would hamper wealth creation in said city state, but that's another topic. what I don't like is the idea it must start as some real estate deal. I get the logistics of those conceiving and growing said state and wanting to recoup on their effort, but if the barrier to entry is a cushy condo on a ship or expensive land on which to first build a dwelling then engage in commerce, shuts out many, especially young, libertarians. The concept should be open to those willing to take risks, economically and geographically, but there needs to be more thought on who are you surrounded by. a bunch of WS investors whose banks were lent money at 0 percent interest and lent it out at 2.5%??? Talk about surrounding yourself with the best and brightest free market thinkers!
This is EXACTLY what has been done to the world, by the "powers that be", NOT with Libertarian philosophies. This is an amazing write up that kills the hope that anything can happen to change this madness that has taken hold globally, unless the Libertarian infiltration takes place over a period of decades in order to MODIFY the minds of the people. This is how it has been done thus far by the evil ones and with much success, I may add. http://www.cato-unbound.org/2009/04/06/p......
