Republicans Shift to Last-Ditch Plan to Stop Trump at Convention

Reading this, it is no wonder that our country is a disaster. Special interests, "my way or no way" politics, a 2 party state where both parties are identical and wrapped up in their own greatness. All this is what Trump bashes. Is he right? I don't know, he seems to be a goofball, with a childish emotional state. However, he is NOT what is currently in power, which is what has them running scared. But how can anyone expect anyone to listen to the last 2 losers they fielded just because they were the party anointed ones, and who had nothing to offer against the Obamanation? It speaks to the arrogance of power that Romney, who failed, now thinks he is blessed enough to "save the Party". Nope, if Trump doesn't beat the HillaryBeast, assuming she is not indicted, it will be their "let me cut my nose off to spite my face" attitude, and take us all down with them into a Democrap hell that will cement Obamacare and add a huge tax gouge to pay for all the giveaways she will do, as well as whatever she skims of the top for her and Billy boy. What morons....

    It's really simple...

Divide and Conquer. Stir up enough about the GOP frontrunner, keep them at each others throats (and get the public and the media to join in the dogfight) and you split the party so NONE of them get elected. Kill the opposition to Hillary and she wins.

I knew it was suspicious when the GOP had, what, 17 candidates... and none would step back, make a rational business decision, and back out - or not get in. Who's EVER heard of "one party" putting up that many people?? It was beyond ludicrous - it showed the world that the GOP --CAN'T-- win because they're too busy doing the work for the dems...

The Right wing media (if there really is such a thing, and 'm beginning to doubt there is) - EVERY ONE OF THEM are complicit as well. EVERY TIME they stir the pot about so and so or that candidate - and it's not the Dem candidates - they're working for the Dems. Sorry, Glen, Sorry, Rush, Sorry, Sean..., sorry about ALL you people that are working from the Liberal's playbook. She appreciates your helping to keep the opposition divided.

You don't like Trump? Unless you really like Hillary a LOT more, then you hopefully will swallow the bitter pill and try to bring the GOP back together, even if it IS Trump, and stop helping HER campaign by slinging mud, stirring up their nonsense, and breaking their opposition for them...

In Fox News today is a clip of Judge Jeanine Pirro claiming that Mitt Romney woke up a sleeping giant,
I would say Mitt is throwing gasoline on an already raging fire.
I would also assume Judge Jeanine is a frustrated Republican.

She greatly dislikes Obama and rails against him with everything she's got whenever she gets a chance. She also points out the foolishness of the Republican insiders.

      Allosaur: I missed this report.
I could not believe that no one had countered Romney.

I think Romney may be the secret anointed one (for another losing round) and the RNC trotted him out with a preprogrammed message. It seems more and more there is a group at the top who seem to have a collective IQ of 3. They need to dump them fast....This is Allosaur vs Brontosaur, and Bronts always seemed to get eaten.

I would say that the days of a party having an actual "philosophy" are gone. Mainly due to the reaction times needed due to rapid media and information flow. Now they just knee jerk and have descended into an archaic "blessed one" approach to who is nominated. I get the feeling Trump is not in that group. In fact, only Jeb, and maybe Cristie were. Jeb acted just like he knew he was to be the anointed one, and would have been creamed by the HillaryBeast and Dumbocrap machine. Where the Republicrats have finishing nails in their maces, the Dumbocraps have railroad spikes. The RNC has been at a loss for what to do for at least 12 years now.

Trump offers us an anti establishment view of politics. The very fact the establishment hates him so much makes me want him to win more. In our mob rule society the only way to get change is to demonstrate how the statist ideas aren't working. That is until principles of Liberty can be taught. The American Revolution was a result of very bad practical actions by the British that couldn't be swept under the rug. Today these things ARE swept under the rug by the media. That has to stop

Trump's not a statist? Then how come he praised
eminent domain? And why has he bragged about
his lack of principle, and chummied up to Putin,
and said he can change to satisfy anyone?

Trump is a successful business person. He has admitted paying off politicians to get them off his back. He is not John galt. But neither was Hank rearden. I have to say, and it won't be popular, in this life there are a lot of compromises, even in the founding of the USA. Life liberty and the pursuit of happiness didn't apply to slaves. Jefferson himself had hundreds of them. There was the civil war for which there was little moral justification. Even though the constitution had serious moral flaws like insufficient property protection, it was better than nothing. Give trump the benefit of the doubt. Establishment politicians have made a huge mess. He is anti establishment and sounds to me he will help fix things

Excuse me, I don't think there is much "doubt" to give Trump the benefit of. The way I heard it, he not only praised affirmative action in the abstract,he actively used it, to violate the property rights of an old lady who refused to give in. (And I was relieved to hear that she eventually won).
When it comes to the Civil War, I am solidly
on the side of the Union, as, had it gone the oth-
er way, the continuation of slavery would have
          been the end result.
As to Jefferson, it is shameful that he never
carried his own rhetoric into action so far as to
free his own slaves (as Washington did his--up-
on his death, but at least he did that much). But
the country they were fighting at the time also
          had slavery in those days.
It is certainly true that "establishment politici-
ans have made a huge mess." I just don't think
that Trump is really anti-establishment. I intend
to vote for Cruz. He is not ideal, but I consider
          him the best option available.

Interesting. she didnt win at all. the property was eventually sold to The casino that wanted it for LESS than Trump had offered her.

Slavery wasnt the issue that caused the civil war. It was the excuse. The North was jealous of the success of the south.

Jefferson kept his slaves so he could manage his huge plantation cheaply, just like the rest of the slave owners. My point was that the constitution was a big series of compromises at the time. But in the end, it was a decent document reached by compromise (but of course Trump cant compromise ...)

Well, we will c. I doubt Cruz will get nominated, let alone beat Hillary or Sanders. So we will never know.

I should have said "Not only did Trump praise
              eminent domain," not 'affirmative action'.
I did not know that the property was eventually
sold to that casino. I am sorry. But, of course, I
despise Trump. Either you have principles, or you don't.
As to the Civil War, if there had been no
slavery, there would have been no Civil War.

So, you probably will have to live with the principles of Hillary Clinton, or Bernie Sanders. I guess you think they are better than Trump.

I think I would have to vote for Trump over Hillary
Clinton or Bernie Sanders. I just think that it would
be horrendous to be faced with such a choice. I
voted for Cruz in the primary, and I am still hoping
                  for him.

term, the issue I see is that there are aspects of Trump that are amazingly bizarre and at conflict with what he states, which is what I see from most people. He rambles sometimes like Reagan did as he got Alzheimers, which is very concernig. He is not a perfect choice, or even a good choice, but the alternates provide no choice. That is the conflict, and some people will not be able to resolve it, becuase they just cannot make sense of some of his weirdness. I only find him interesting because he will shake the place up, maybe uncover some of the rot, which may help in some repairs. The structure of government should hold some of his crazier things in check, but maybe it will spur addressing some of the issues that need addressing.

Trump doesn't use telepromters or prepared speeches in this primary run. That is hard to do and is rare these days. Hildebeast just delivers speeches tailored by her handlers to say things the local audiences. Want to hear.

Agreed, although I had to laugh when one of the Fox commentators called it a cross between a news conference and streaming consciousness event. It actually seemed to fit him. Just do not tune in for any State of the Union addresses.

I would rather hear what people actually think in debates and news conferences. It's refreshing to just be oneself and real. Im sure in business dealings he is very thoughtful and specific, and would be the same when representing the country on important matters

I agree he is honestly different, and that is a good thing in some ways, but he is basically the only thing that will be left standing unless the RNC nukes him. Even then, I can see him doing a Schwarzenegger, crawling on the floor saying "must strike back".

Shot, we have tried all kinds of establishment politicians and they all seem to just let the state get bigger and more inefficient. People want an anti establishment one now. There's Sanders on the left and trump on the right. Sanders is a wacko job but tells it like it is. So does trump- not perfect by any means but for 4 years I think he would at least shake up the establishment

"I agree he is honestly different [in that he is himself and real at debates]."
I wonder if anyone unscripted can win a national election. I wonder if anyone states what he thinks, whether it's me, Trump, you, or anyone, if it's going to make him un-electable. Maybe when anyone states all of his ideas on policy, it comes off as absurd to 70% of the people.

I keep thinking about the Rand essay posted here a week ago: https://www.galtsgulchonline.com/post...
If the gov't has broad powers, Rand says, we're tempted to find a centrist who will consider everyone's interests. I say it's actually prudent to elect centrists, until gov't powers are limited. (No-kidding-Sherlock to those who respond this isn't ideal every time I say it.)

I see no way someone like Trump will be elected, for the reasons I said. I think people who work every day with people who find him reasonable are kidding themselves about how much the rest of the country is like them. I estimate maybe 80% of the people I interact with are Bernie Sanders supporters (we avoid talking about politics), but I can step back and see that what seems like "everyone" to me is actually a narrow segment of society.

My dream scenario is Trump, who I say is un-electable, gets the nomination and implodes, making way for the Libertarians to become a mainstream party. In this dream, Gary Johnson could say what he thinks but also say, "we don't have to agree on everything because all of this is outside the purview of government. You work with vendors, customers, employers that don't share your opinions, and it doesn't matter b/c they're not a part of what you're working on." That's probably a pipe dream. It will probably be a centrist politician who considers everyonne's interest, like the Rand essay talks about, and I think Clinton is far-and-away the best choice for that.

I do not believe that Trump will help to fix things, at least when it comes to the economy. He has no concept at all how the economy works, his education in this area is abysmal and his stated methods and policies, if implemented, will turn this country into a huge Venezuela. Trump is basically a mob boss and nothing more.

Sanders is the one turning the country into a Venezuela for sure. Hillary sells us out to fulfill the promises she made to Goldman and Wall Street Trump at least has experience hiring good talent and encourages people to speak their minds. He just can't be worse than Hillary or sanders and has the approval of a lot of voters. Cruz doesn't have the support to kill off hillary

Really the feces are served up by the federal bureaucracy and the congress with the acceptance of the populace. Maybe with trump's anti politically correct personality and willingness to speak his mind, he might just encourage people to not accept the current establishment. Think about it. Is that so bad?

I think you are on the right track. No one can take all his positions seriously, and I don't think they do, it is more the fact he is saying what they feel. He is riding a wave of "fed up with government" fervor and is just using it, and throwing gasoline on the fire when it gets too mellow.

Trump's anti PC is refreshing and needed, I agree. Other than that, and his stand against Islam, I find nothing in his methods, approach or standing as attractive or desirable. I wanted to mention his philosophy, but he has none. Trump is not only a loose cannon, but a very dangerous one. Being better than Bernie or Hillary is not much of an accomplishment. It is truly a sad state of the nation that the choice falls between the unabashed looters, liars, criminals and mafia bosses. Truly, the crash and collapse are overdue.

In the last two centuries of revolutions and upheavals, these have typically been for about 10 years or so. With today's faster communications, the upheaval process, as painful as it may be, will likely be shorter than 10 years. Better than generation after generation of looting.

The impact of modern communications and instate trading will accelerate any changes and exaggerate any crashes, I believe. So their impact may be magnified. Maybe a good solar flare would make it easier.

My point. There is no viable, good candidate. Third party does not count, because they cannot get elected. Best to start an Objectivist party, establish a political platform, and start running for local office, then state, then Federal. Only way we will ever see any change, that is not involving dark uniforms and maybe foreign accents...

I would argue that politics follows philosophy. Objectivist political party can only succeed when the people are ready for the philosophy of objectivism. That is not the case now. If you look at AS, it took the collapse of the statist society before the populace was ready to adopt new ideas. I think one way to speed up the process is to bring the failures of the statists out of the shadows they hide in. That means we need anti establishment politicians to tell when the emperor has no clothes. Today that's Sanders on the left and trump on the right. Both are getting traction and bringing out how establishment politics is crooked today. Of the two you know who I would prefer

The Objectivist message has no chance of success within a democratic process so long as the democratic process consists of looters and morons. We now have several generations of government-school dumbed down morons and over a 100 million full-time looters, with another 100 million part-time looters. To expect them to voluntarily give up the loot and to have them understand that the loot is not free is an expectation beyond Utopia. The collapse is the only option to stop the looting. Ayn Rand understood it back then. It should be obvious to us now.

I would almost say the Objectivism is not viable with todays general sheeple population. It requires a certain ability to assess both yourself and your place in the world and the relations involved, and determine your values. As well as a commitment to your own value and work. That seems antiethical to most sheeple today, and would be too much work. To make it palatable would require a basic rendering down to several basic principles the sheeple could easily digest. I am not sure that can be done and retain the philosophy. It's work, and work seems counter indicated with these patients, doctor.

Considering the legitimate policy disagreements among Gulch members (on immigration, for example), I doubt that an Objectivist political party could generate a coherent platform that would satisfy most of those who espouse Ayn Rand's philosophy. As an Atlas Society article points out, "There is as yet no comprehensive exposition of Objectivist political philosophy. . . "
                      http://atlassociety.org/commentary/co...

Without a more fully developed political philosophy, an Objectivist political party would be premature.

I do not believe that to necessarily true. I do agree that there is no codified political philosophy, but maybe there cannot be one, given the emphasis on individual concern with it. I find this statement to something that would be an excellent starting point for any party, let alone and Objectivist one:

Objectivism, in contrast, the moral principles of politics are an extension of the ethical code of rational self-interest. Because there are no conflicts of rational interests among individuals, the proper society is one in which individuals cooperate for mutual advantage, exchanging value for value.

If a party valued the individual, and the legal code defended the legal rights of the individual, instead of the current "rights of the state above all men", I could do that very nicely.

Ayn Rand once remarked about LBJ a suspicion
(or that she thought) his goal was simply "to be
President", rather than to carry out any particular
policies. Now I do not know what she would have said about Trump, nor can I speak for her, but for myself, I strongly suspect the same
                    thing about him.

Republicans are acting like fools. Just let the people decide you idiots! If your actions succeed, the potential voters will know it and either refrain from voting or go over to C or S. Even if you fail, you have cast a pall in whomever the nominee will be. It is lose-lose, and if you include the election, a lose-lose-lose.

imo, this is just more of the circus meant to distract voters who might otherwise awaken to the GOP. This tale keeps the potential GOP deserters attached to Trump who pretends to be an outsider. In the end Trump will prevail because he has already been vetted That is, the GOP inner circle believes they have enough blackmail to keep Trump under control. So the suckers vote for the lesser evil as usual and the statist carousel continues.

If conservatives want individual liberty and free markets restored the only objective choice is to abandon the GOP's lies and vote for a principled, ethical candidate like Gary Johnson.

You choose to consent to slavery under the statist party. If you don't make a stand liberty and free markets will be destroyed and violent revolution will be the only way to regain them. You should have started voting on principle 20 years ago, but instead you voted for the supposed lesser evil, and you got what you voted for: evil. Keep on voting without rational thinking and you will get more of the same.

Your point is well made but the outcome of your pure and "Principled" policy is that we will all go to hell sooner. People voting for the supposedly purer candidate in Ross Perot got us Bill Clinton.

If more had voted on principle then and since then we wouldn't be in this situation now. You keep on making excuses for the statists and letting them continue to destroy America. Of course the statists will win if good people don't oppose them. When will you wake up and take a stand? After the collapse is too late.

Not only is collapse unlikely in times of such prosperity and personal liberty, it's undesirable. At least as human history goes, if you tear up what we have, our liberty can only decrease.

Our liberty has been steadily decreasing for several decades and the prosperity is questionable. The very rich have certainly been getting richer and the lower end has been living comfortably (though not well and never well enough to be independent and free); the middle class, however, has been steadily eroding. There can be no liberty without the middle class. We are reverting to a New Dark Age, materially and mentally.

I am of the opposite opinion. The average person can publish his ideas nearly for free. We haven't completely realized MLK's dream, but everyone agrees it's a good goal. LGBT rights are respected. We don't hear serious debate about whether women have the same rights as men. Marginal tax rates >60% are long gone, and probably won't come back. Violent crime is falling steadily for decades. Most of the middle class and poor have an affluent life compared to most time and places.

We may be on the cusp of a world where the cost of making things is trivial and all the value and human effort is in arranging them cleverly. The geographic barriers on earth don't matter anymore, and we may be witnessing the decline of the nation state. We may see people travel to space, and that earth's gavity well will replace geographic boundaries, allowing peolple to try new ways of doing things.

It don't get how people can look and how rapidly the world is changing and see anything like the Dark Ages.

I wish I had your rosy glasses, but since I don’t, let’s look at the details:
“The average person can publish his ideas nearly for free.” – Yes, and to paraphrase Putin – Internet is like a big crown in the Red Square – scream all you want, no one will hear you.
As to realizing MLK’s dream, that’s actually Thomas More’s dream (not the first and only plagiarism by MLK), with the same result…
“LGBT rights are respected. We don't hear serious debate about whether women have the same rights as men.” The issue that we now have is that LGBT “rights” trump everyone else’s rights – when someone’s rights are more important than others’, they become privileges. When you have privileges, you lose rights. Same with women’s privileges, that come at the expense of others’ rights.
The current middle class tax rate is well above 60% when you add up all the taxes – local, state, sales, fees, federal and, most important, roll up the taxes that businesses pay and have to transfer to the consumer. Much over 60%! We are so intertwined with the government handouts and taxes that to separate the two is essentially impossible, which is exactly the way it was in the Soviet Union – and we all know how well that ended.
Violent crime is falling – true, though I do not think that it is because we are doing so well, but more to do with the fact that more and more people carry weapons and are willing to protect themselves. But let the Progressives have their way…
As to the middle class, its disappearance, or at least significant reduction, should be obvious. The poor, however, do live better than ever, but at a price – for two hundred years, America has provided an opportunity for unprecedented social mobility; today’s government-enslaved poor have no chance of ever getting out of the ghetto.
Lastly, regarding geographic boundaries, which you claim do not matter anymore – with the spread of Islam throughout yet unconquered territories, we will either see a very nationalistic shutting of the borders or Sharia takeover within a generation or two. Then you can unequivocally say goodbye to women’s and LGBT rights…

well said, I hink the middle class is simply disappearing because we get forced down when the majority of our income is ripped off. You also need to factor in the state and local government new fetish of "fees" for everything, which is another tax, it just is easier to implement and abuse. They are another drag and food source for the little piggies.

Local traffic offense fines should NOT go to the town's that pass the local traffic laws and hire police to enforce them. Talk about conflict of interests

Indeed, just as we discussed in another thread about the impoundment dilemma. The efforts by locals to squeeze money out is almost as outrageous as the feds.

I almost think we might have a good enough argument about fines not going to the people assessing the fines to get the practice stopped. I think police today are primarily cash registers for local government

I am not sure how that would work, mainly because they use the same lame arguments the Dumbocraps do when they come up with their pocket grabs: It's for the children, It's for law enforcement (Genghis Khan will come kill you if we do not have your money), It's your duty (that's a joke).

But it's so obviously a conflict of interest it might get traction. I could argue it should go to support shorter waits in emergency rooms, maybe disease research, etc. But definitely not to pay bloated civil service salaries and perks, or to increase the number of policemen used to write tickets

"Internet is like a big crown in the Red Square – scream all you want, no one will hear you."
Wow. We see technologies and media going viral, without any traditional gatekeepers. When I was a kid people used to say the press is only free to those who own one. That's just gone. People share niche ideas so far down the long tail that a 'zine would have struggled to have enough following to justify distribution and printing. Is there any pace of progress in ability to share ideas without gatekeepers that you would not see as a problem?

"As to realizing MLK’s dream, that’s actually Thomas More’s dream (not the first and only plagiarism by MLK), with the same result…"
Fifty years ago people wondered if the dream was too radical. Now we talk about whom to attribute it to. I'll take that as an amazing success.

"The issue that we now have is that LGBT “rights” trump everyone else’s rights – when someone’s rights are more important than others’, they become privileges."
LGBT people always had rights. We just now have a gov't that respects them. People considering them "special rights" or "privileges" that must come at the expense of someone else's rights/privileges is going away. That was something bigots said in the 90s. It sounds retro today.

                        "Much over 60%!"
Marginal federal rates were in the 70% range for decades before I was born. I don't consider this rapid progress. I think there are things happening now that could break either way, either for cutting or expanding gov't. So this is a huge concern.

"but more to do with the fact that more and more people carry weapons and are willing to protect themselves. But let the Progressives have their way…"
But they haven't. What we're doing is working. You can take anything that's working and say, "but soon enough someone will screw it up."

"America has provided an opportunity for unprecedented social mobility; today’s government-enslaved poor have no chance of ever getting out of the ghetto."
Unprecedented social mobility is what we have now. Gov't-enslaved poor living in a ghetto is what we had more of in the past than today. We can admit that without condoning the massive gov't taxation, borrowing, and intrusiveness that we have to day.

"Lastly, regarding geographic boundaries, which you claim do not matter anymore – with the spread of Islam throughout yet unconquered territories, we will either see a very nationalistic shutting of the borders or Sharia takeover within a generation or two. Then you can unequivocally say goodbye to women’s and LGBT rights…"
I say it simply won't happen. If you show that comment to someone 20 years from now, it will be easily identifiable as being from the 2010s, at least by people who remember what got people fired up two years ago. Islamists want to have a state, but they're actually criminals. No one wants criminals around. The nationalistic protectionism won't happen because the golden straitjacket of trading with one another is so enticing.

First, I made a typo above, quoting Putin - a big crowd in the Red Square, not "crown". Sorry.
Now to the substance. It is not the amount of electrons that one can send around the world that matters, it is what other people hear and how they react to it that matters. Jesus didn't have a printing press; in fact, nothing that he said was even written down, but it was heard and it changed the world. My father spend all his money writing and publishing his research - and he was the only one that read it.

As to MLK making black's lives better - the percentage and the amount of broken families is unprecedented, the level of government dependence (slavery) is unprecedented (since the Civil War), the level of uneducation and stupidity, along with generational unemployment is unprecedented. And you call it Progress? I'm not religious, but I still have to say: God, save me from this kind of progress!

And for the rest of your assessment, I'll get a rosy telescope and then maybe I'll see what you're seeing...

Freedomforall, as you recall, I used to like Trump, mainly for his revolt against PC and the status quo. I must thank you helping me see beyond that, as Trump does, indeed, represents the Dark Side of the Force. Although I am generally comfortable with Cruz (he does appear to be a Constitutionalist), if Trump is nominated, I will be voting for Johnson if only to have a clear conscience. Of course, this is like taking the Blue pill, since our votes don't count anyway.

I will vote for Johnson if I feel confident it won't help the Republican, unless Rand Paul somehow got back in. In this election, it seems like anything is possible. I think of dream scenarios in which they nominate Trump and he implodes, paving the way for a libertarian. I really hope Gary Johnson doesn't have any skeletons in the closet b/c in that remote case where Republicans implode, Libertarians must be ready to jump in. I know that's probably a pipe dream.

freedom, I would not agree people always voted for the lesser of 2 evils. I would say the system itself has bent everything to such a position. I do not believe that if everyone voted for the princiled person, we would be better because:
          a. They have had a lock on media since who knows when (I would say before the civil war).
          b. That lock has framed every discussion and effectively "cuts out" the principled person, in favor of the party candidate.
          c. Big business has been manipulating things for a while between money, messages and possibly covert actions.
          d. The money used to "support candidates" and the rise of unregulated money, means the "principled" candidate is left high and dry. Business and people do not contribute to a "principled" campaign (unless Bernie the Commie counts).
Your position is correct, I agree with it wholeheartedly, but I just do not think that our society has been in a position to allow it for a long time, something I think AR was trying to show the sheeple. She did not have much success.

Until the 3rd parties wake up and realize they need to take local control first, then states, then Feds, it is all moot. That is how they keep control all the way down, the National committees control state control local, and you end up with voter fraud and HillaryBeast or the Trumpet. Just getting elected locally is hard enough. Everyone wants to know whats in it for them, and freedom and personal responsibility are not on their lists.

"The ideal citizen of a tyrannical state is the man or woman who bows in silent obedience in exchange for the status of a well-cared-for herd animal. Thinking people become the tyrants worst enemies.

Before their thunder roars, there is a period of anticipation, in which more occurs than the literal-minded tyrant can ever understand. A few overt acts of sedition shatter the heavy peace. But the greater force, unrecognized, rolls forward in near silence, as millions of individuals quietly withdraw their consent from the state. The pundits call it apathy. They could not be more wrong.

That time is now. And we are those people."

Well, this turned out to be a video, and, as I have
mentioned before, due to technical problems, I
usually don't watch videos on the computer. But I
have heard some stuff like this on the radio. I think that Trump is a disaster. I think I would
vote for him over Clinton or Sanders, but I real-
ly hope we won't be reduced to that. I want Cruz. He is not ideal, but I think he is the best
of the options available. And I just wish Rubbio
would drop out, and maybe team up with Cruz,
and that the two of them would run as running
mates. Then we could defeat Trump and have a
really good chance of defeating the Democrats,
and getting rid of Obamacare,& get something
    resembling a free-enterprise country again.

Showing up and complaining about what all is wrong when you were in the crowd that is supposed to fix it, is as endearing as Trump and his fence. Trump, though, has not had a chance, so that is his attraction, although he is a whacky dude...

No one, they have always felt they were the "anointed ones" and the party usually had total control. Reagan had to fight tooth and nail to get in the nomination, and it was because he came across so intelligent and caring. Trump is playing the same game, but since he does not need their money, he is just ignoring them, which really pisses off the masters.

Being that on the Democrat side the two candidates are not an option, I'm for last man standing on the Republican side. Trump, the persona, may not be showing his "presidential" side but seems to represent the movement and sentiment of the people who are fed up with lifelong career politicians and business as usual attitude. This is in spite of the Trump personality. It seems to me that the more desperate the efforts against Trump, the more I lean toward him. Weird reaction.

    Here are the problems:
    Progressives...both sides,
    Intrenched establishment...both sides.
A few, really wacko's...mostly on the left.
And, way to few, conscious human beings, beings that know and understand the constitution and know what the problems are.

For someone, going along, with no education of what America stands for, are allergic to politics, hasn't paid attention and can not seem to believe that these creatures pervade our government and they do not care about them.
They just want to rule...cause they can't do anything else. They have no clue whom to support, who is the real thing and will likely fall prey to the lamestream rhetoric.
Trumpet...has no mind outside business ideas, sometimes gets lucky cause he doesn't care how he does business so long as he wins.
Having no mind, he needs that gigantic ego...which presents the problem...it's his way or the high way cause he's better than you and he doesn't care how he does it.
He really reminds me of Hitler...hiltery too...same brain set.
I've said it before: Marx predicted that if enough nonsense and chaos was injected into a capitalistic society...the people would cry out for a strong man.
donald is their strong man...their hitler, thier stalin, their savior.

Now I have to put my finger down my throat and evacuate the thought of it.

We had the Republicans force feed us the hopeless Dole, about soured me on the party then. Then we had the McCain (manchurian candidate?) debacle. Then Romney had his wimpy chance. I have long ago given up thinking they want to save this country, and just all want one world government. I had hope for Rubio until a couple weeks ago, when he showed his true Romney colors. Yet the Party continues to call for handouts, when hell freezes over. I will vote for local Democrats, and vote Libertarian on the general if the leadership continues this destructive path. One party of socialists and one of crony one world government dictators, Those are not acceptable choices.

Stormi, you are limiting your horizons if you just focus on Republicrats. The last 8 years of crappy laws, bad policy, illegal government actions and intrusions, Obamacare illegally enacted, a Supreme Court that has apparently forgotten what they are there for are all owned by Dumbocraps and Republicrats equally. At a local level, it gets more personal, and you have mor leverage. But it is still about money, and more "who you know". If you want to change it, you need to be voting for the libertarian/independent locally, then state, then federally. No other method will generate change, just insulate you, a little, from it's effects.

This thing with the Republicans trying so openly to dictate our votes is a bit newer. There are good candidates on both sicdes and way too many crooks, commies and manipulators on both sides. Trust, but verify. Most people want to skip step 2, too much work and too hard to get facts. I have not trusted a politician in 20-30 years just because they have proven to be deceitful, and always wanting to get that money for the next election. That is why I would rather a fixed fee election system, where anyone can contribute to a kitty, and it is split up amongst any one wo gets a threshold of signatures on a petition. Even that has pitfalls, and it does limit "free speech" clauses, but our society has proven that honesty and truth required for free speech is in too short supply, and the kiddies need some rules to play nice. Never will happen...

Then how is voting for ANY democrat an acceptable choice? Sounds like cutting off your nose to spite your face.

I said on the LOCAL level. In small town America, party is not really party, until they talk National candidates. I have found over the years that people migrate to local parties, openings exist to run for office, while the other party may have too many candidates, so they drift. On the small lown local level, you know more about the people, and party is a formality. As this year, the guy pulling the Republican strings locally is under investigation on several levels, leaving you not wanting to vote for any of his cronies. I once told him he was not a real Republican, but then, what is that when you see what the national leadership is up to.

No nnn no noooo....Anyone remember Laser City? The city of Max Headroom. This is the track Trump has in mind for us! I am so sick and tired of this "lesser of two evils" when the evils are the same! Why did WE let it come to that point? All we do is complain and moan and then blame. We can save this Constitutional Republic if we really want to....but no, we are happy living in Laser City.

And how do you propose the salvation? Most of the discussions have a single thread: The power of both parties to control the sheeple thoughts and voting makes any change impossible and any third party irrelevant.

Not trying to be contrary, but a workable method of change is whats is needed (and the Obamanation chant is not counted as workable).
