For religious people: What do you think of this? – Christian prophecy about Russian invasion of America

It's a common theme among many Christian fundamentalists to tell stories about the possible invasion of the United States by foreign countries, usually it's whatever country is currently feared by the general public, but most commonly Russia. Personally, I have to remain skeptical, as I don't think dreams are a reliable source of information. Still, the possibility of foreign invasion is not totally without merit, and it could be argued that our dreams are simply our subconscious minds acting out potential scenarios about things we fear and trying to find solutions to the problems we're dealing with while awake. Even if I can dismiss the dreams, I cannot dismiss the fear on which they're based. War is a very real thing, and the idea that we might not be adequately prepared is very disconcerting.

According to Saul Alinsky, the American labor movement actually started in Philadelphia in 1827.

Of course "The Communist Manifesto" was not even written until 1848, so it's difficult to say for certain when the labor movement became infused with Marxist ideology. The first English translation of the Manifesto was produced in 1850, so an approximation of ten to fifteen years to reach American soil sounds reasonable.

When you see people that are supposed to be men of God but live in multi million dollar homes etc you have identified their god. Read about it, it is a very good book you know. It has been read more than any other.

Hey rlewellen, are you getting censored? I've been busy for a bit so I've missed things here. I gave you a point previously and it got zeroed out after I gave you a thumbs up. What's up?

Salem was a small, isolated village. Your point about Hitler is well taken, though.

I want you to think about a few other main stream guys. One had the name Hitler. Just because you find a majority of the population to agree on a point does not make it a good thing. The mainstream also burned witches in Salem. So were they moderates?

Well you weren’t around when Russia was audibly and unmistakably threatening world domination, so you wouldn’t understand how the lingering conspiracy theories evolved. Putin is a KGB man. Putin served when world domination was the theme.

*shrugs* Never say never. But as far as what fundamentalist christians belief: I think it’s more insightful to point out these type of conspiracies are put forth by fear-mongering scam artists, who make a living at directing naive fundamentalist christians towards their collection plates. You got to be really stupid to believe this junk, but you have got to be really full of yourself to think nice people don’t occasonally get suckered in,

When I think of the terms, I think mainstream means moderates, while fundamentalism means hardcore extremists.

    Hmm - interesting.
I'd say "fundamentalist" is a synonym for "mainstream". Its opposite would be "modernist" or "revisionist". If you're the kind of person who believes in the Christianity preached 150 years ago, I'd say you're fundamentalist. This view is pretty much echoed here:

Not sure how you distinguish the two. As the last paragraph on that link describes, there has been some cultural shift in the meaning of this word. However, you can also see in that last sentence how fundamentalism is equated with orthodoxy (what is mainstream).

I just looked. I'm afraid not. But I know of some folks who were there, but not at my home at the moment. Maybe next week?

That crap ideology from England; communism invaded the U.S. academia as early as the 1860's. That said, I'm not fooled by anyone (Alex Jones' types) running around yelling the U.S. is going to be invaded. ha ha. Way too late...it happened long ago.

Well, the Russians aren't communist anymore. The Soviet Union collapsed. But the way they've been acting recently still makes me very uneasy...

I don't think the Russian communists will need to do a thing. The American communists are doing very well without any help.

I agree that we shouldn't try to say that they're speaking for all Christians. Christianity is so large that it would be very foolish to try and say anyone can speak for all Christians. But that wasn't my point. I simply wanted to discuss whether or not the fears these people have are at all grounded in reality. For example, take this particular passage by Dumitru Duduman:

    ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
"The Russian spies have discovered where the most powerful nuclear missiles are in America. It will start with the world calling for 'peace, peace.' Then there will be an internal revolution in America, started by the Communists. The government will be busy with internal problems. Then, from the oceans, Russia, Cuba, Nicaragua, Central America, Mexico, and two other countries will attack! The Russians will bombard the nuclear missile silos in America. America will burn."
~ Dumitru Duduman, Christian pastor, Romanian-American immigrant, and author of "Through the Fire Without Burning"
    ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

Maybe Duduman's theories about foreign invasion are totally off base, but his theories about an internal revolution started by the Communists appear to have legitimate evidence to support them:

Russian ownership of land in North America back when the United States was only on the east coast doesn't count as invasion because the west coast was not part of the United States back then. When I say invasion of America, I mean invasion of the United States.

Also, tourism and foreign visitors don't count as invasion, either.

What I'm saying is that just because it comes from a white person, and they say that they are speaking on behalf of white people, doesn't mean that it is anything to do with what I think or believe. To attribute it to me would be a mistake. The analogy holds the same to this.

Well, it comes from people who are Christians. I don't know if that necessarily qualifies as coming from Christianity. I assume you're arguing that the only things that can be said to truly come from Christianity are things written in the Bible, and not necessarily things modern Christians say? If that's the case, then I guess I can see where you're coming from, but personally, I think it's a very fine distinction.

I'm mostly agnostic myself, so I always try to remain objectively skeptical and take everything with a grain of salt. Still, the way Russia has been acting recently has me very worried...
