I think the school made a hasty decision and are trying to back out of it as gracefully as possible. I recently shaved my head into a Mohawk, which gets me some nervous glances occasionally. My supervisor would like me to shave it off, but knows there's nothing he can really do about it. A lot of customers look skeptical when they first meet me, but after my jobs done I often get complimented on being the best tech they've ever had.
Hopefully the school learns to push kids in a desired direction more positively in the future, although every time I hear another problem with schools the only thing I can think of is how we should just privatize them.
"every time I hear another problem with schools the only thing I can think of is how we should just privatize them." Yes. If schools were private, this wouldn't even be an issue. It's like someone being rude to you at a bagel shop. If the manager doesn't make it right, you just go somewhere else.
Barker said the idea began when he and his mom were talking at the start of football season in the fall.
“She said, ‘You know what you should do for me? You should dye your hair pink and make a Mohawk for me,’” he said.
I find this difficult to believe. That said, I also believe that the principal probably did tell the boy to shave his head or not participate.
Again, here is a story that doesn't report the relevant facts - what is the school "grooming and appearance" policy that is being violated? What's the problem with journalism these days?
