"every time I hear another problem with schools the only thing I can think of is how we should just privatize them." Yes. If schools were private, this wouldn't even be an issue. It's like someone being rude to you at a bagel shop. If the manager doesn't make it right, you just go somewhere else.
I think the school made a hasty decision and are trying to back out of it as gracefully as possible. I recently shaved my head into a Mohawk, which gets me some nervous glances occasionally. My supervisor would like me to shave it off, but knows there's nothing he can really do about it. A lot of customers look skeptical when they first meet me, but after my jobs done I often get complimented on being the best tech they've ever had.
Hopefully the school learns to push kids in a desired direction more positively in the future, although every time I hear another problem with schools the only thing I can think of is how we should just privatize them.
