Another great Forbes article that I did not find in the gulch,

"With President Obama’s line “You didn’t build that,” the battle between individualism and collectivism has reached a climax. Obama has openly denied individual achievement, spitting in the face of every individual who ever had a creative thought. Obama has ventured to say straight out what only the theoreticians of collectivism have scribbled before: there is no individual achievement. What appears to be your achievement is somehow the achievement of that mystical entity, the collective–especially its earthly embodiment: the government."

I agree that Obama openly flaunts his disdain for individualism, however I think the issue is a bit deeper. Epistemologically the battle is between relativism and objective truth. Metaphysically the battle is between primacy of consciousness and primacy of mind. Until people are taught and believe that reality exists independent of them and that reality can be known, the battle will rage on--especially if it's never acknowledge that is what the battle is actually over.

    Hello Solver,
Another positive article how refreshing! Thanks!
What is the collective? Is it not simply many IDIVIDUALS?
The collective has no mind of its own and all preceding advances and infrastructure were created by the combined or singular efforts of IDIVIDUALS.
    Regards,
