The movie version of Dr. Zhivago was shot in Spain. There's a scene where a workers' parade stops in front of a rich home lit up with a party and they sing "The Internationale." When the scene was shot, people in the village came out because they thought that Franco had died.

You will find many students of Objectivism who feel differently. Feelings matter. They are the summation of your ideas. Overall, Rand's favorite genre was operetta or light opera: plays with a lot of songs. She detested rock 'n' roll and had no appreciation for jazz. She never mentioned blues or swing. However, she did engage in ballroom dancing, so that would require Big Band sound.

Thanks for the link, K! I know Joe Maurone from the "Rebirth of Reason" site. His interests also include graphic novels. I find his color theme difficult, so I copied and pasted into Notebook to read it. I did not realize that there was so much music in WTL. Rachmaninoff playing Rachmaninoff also figured into "Dr. Zhivago."

Two citations at least appear in "The Fountainhead" in the opening pages of the chapters in Howard Roark: Tschaikowsky's First Concerto, and Rachmaninoff's Second.
