I just want to say that I have enjoyed the last week of discussion at this site. I don't normally visit social sites, but when I was on the call last week, I finally signd up after hearing the contents of that Galt's Gulch discussion. And I'm glad I did. This is a nice group and I find it nice to hear from like minded people. I can only say that coming to The Gulch was like getting a bit of water in a long hike through the desert.

    I don't recall there being a watering hole in the Gulch (perhaps I've forgotten). If there was one what was the name of it? And if there wasn't perhaps we should discuss a proper name for such a Gulch establishment.

      Good question, Lets. Now I'm compelled to go back to the Gulch to verify. I do know that in AS Part I, people were doing a lot of firewater.

      Not appropriate for a bar there, but there was a place in Denver called Wyatt's Torch. My guess is that it would, like their other endeavors, be named after the owner.

        More thoughtfully, I think Wyatt left the Torch behind him, to make a statement there; I don't think he'd make the same statement in the Gulch.

        I really need to reread this book! Wyatt's Torch was what he did with his oil wells on his way out. I don't recall him having a bar and if he did I don't understand what it has to do with the Gulch. Please elaborate.

        Like I said, I need to reread the book, but I don't remember Wyatt having anything to do with the impatient politician who demanded another train (an inferior train that overheated) to take them thru the tunnel so he wouldn't be late to his big meeting (or whatever), taking them all to their smokey demise.

        Yeah Wyatt had nothing to do with Kip Chalmers laying claim to the train, breaking protocol and ultimately killing himself and alot of others.

        I was in the middle of a reply when I side-tracked myself with my YouTube debate effort, and inadvertently closed the window. Bottom line: I got the distinct feeling from the official trailer that a very fiery train crash (of a passenger, not a freight) was in the offing for Trois.

        Aglialoro (or Putch, if he has the latitude) is (as am I) far less generous than Rand, where dealing with looters goes. While asphyxiation has a certain appeal, and puts the onus of moral responsibility on the looters themselves for their demise, the Hollywood full-blown incineration roasts my chops far more satisfyingly. By the by, LS, considering all the new blood on this site, I'm perplexed as to why we're still the only ones on at this hour.

        Probably because a lot of people aren't on Pacific time. Or have to get up early, or find us boring. To your non-answer (above) how did you relate Wyatt as having anything to do with the tunnel oven?

      I think they gathered at each others houses, depending on the event, whether a Richard Halley concert, or philosophy discussions at Mulligan's place. Good question, I'd have to go check again to be sure.
