I recently returned from London. I had heard much of this information prior to making the decision to travel there. That fact made it a tough decision but I decided to go with the idea that I could see for myself if any of the reports were true. We stayed about 10 miles from Tower Hamlets. The first thing I noticed when we arrived at 11:30 pm was the number of young men hanging out on the streets. The second was the number restaurants that offered Halal meats. From my observations it seemed that 20% of the women were wearing Hajib. It also appeared that men outnumbered women about 2 to 1. What all of this means, I'm not exactly sure but it did tell me that reports of the numbers of Muslims seems accurate and it appeared a good number were practicing Islam. All I'm saying is the reports seem to be accurate.
