There are less obvious ways to stifle inventors and Ayn Rand was very strong on intellectual property rights. The America Invents Act (AIA) was overwhelmingly passed one year ago. Congressman Ryan voted for it, for example. Supposedly patent reform, it changes our system from an inventor having the rights to his invention to a "first to file" system of awarding invention rights.
