    I love wireless. I can still imagine why people thought early demonstrations of it were magic.

    Gigabit wireless is here if we have a quiet 80MHz, good SNR, and a channel function what is diverse enough to support multi-stream MIMO but does not have so much delay spread as to cause inter-symbol interference, and don't need to wait for packet acknowledgements ( ACKs). People whose world is the MAC layer (layer 2) are figuring that out. I'm not sure what can be done to speed up TCP ACKs; it's far from my world. I'm mostly in the physical layer (layer 1), and from that standpoint gigabit wireless is here.

    All that means the raw throughput is there; we just have to out ways to use it.
