When you're in danger and seconds count, the police are only minutes away.
When one says it, and then just shuts up for a moment, you can sometimes hear them thinking.
I was quite encouraged while chatting with a customer the other day, we talked about the muslim attack I couldn't help but jump on my soapbox & rant about the state of our nation & how our rights have been eroded. She said "I'm glad you're on board" & went on to say that the 'silent majority' in this country have had enough & that action was necessary. She's 72 years of age. Quite what action? Your guess is as good as mine. Our government refuse to listen to us so the only action that will be heeded is outright revolt. That will probably be a long time coming because it will require participants to knowingly break the law. It's a real shame our law is against us.
Very sad to hear you say that the British flag has fallen 'victim' to political correctness (whatever that really means). Maybe a grassroots drive to return the pride in displaying your great banner is in order? A letter to the editor of a large circulation paper could be the catalyst....
Hang in there, mate!
P.S. One of the most embarrassing things that Obama did upon getting the 'keys' to the Oval Office, was to insist that Britain take back the Churchill bust your government had given us.
Shameful on our part...and this 'Yank' apologizes.
When I posted my comment this morning, the trolls had been around. I hope people with more intelligence have since commented. I've not visited the article a second time 'yet' but I'll go & have a look later.
Re - 'controversial': of course what I'm saying is controversial, this is 'gun free Britain' remember..? British people who speak of the use of guns in self defence are generally considered to be a bit mad - & that of course is exactly what the progressives want. Nobody wants to look stupid (I'm obviously the exception now).
The BNP (British National Party) are renowned for being racist. I'm not entirely sure whether the majority of BNP supporters are 'racist' as such but I believe the BNP leader 'Nick Griffin' used to be a proper 'Nazi salute & steel cap boot' wearing nutcase in his 20s. More recently he's travelled to America & given a talk at a KKK meeting... I rest my case. I say all this but one of my regular customers is a local BNP representative, & he's the nicest bloke you'd ever want to meet. He makes me laugh though, he's flying Union Jacks EVERYWHERE outside his home. He's got balls! In many cases, if a British person flies the British flag at his home, it's assumed that he is a BNP - EDL - NF supporting 'racist'. How messed up is that? IT'S OUR NATION'S F***ING FLAG! I'd fly one myself but I've got no desire to attract trouble for the sake of it.
We in America who choose to carry do so because it is our right to do. Not because we're looking for a fight...just the opposite. Defending your own life is a big serious deal. It's a choice. Do I want to be a victim if someone would choose to try and make me one? No. Some people say, "Oh, what are the odds of that happening?" Probably pretty small, but I don't like to take chances that might end up with me dead...I prefer to be prepared and I take the responsibility that goes along with it very seriously...it's a last resort option. One doesn't just go buy a gun and strap it on and away they go (not a responsible one anyway)...there is training involved. Not just weapons and target training either... but in being aware of your surrounding at all times..always having an exit plan. Noticing who's coming towards you, up behind you...it IS a big deal. Some of us choose preparedness over being a potential victim. Explain the BNP. I just looked it up and what I've read didn't sound so bad, but I'd rather hear your interpretation because you live there. People love to pretend "oh that will never happen"..."or I'll just call the cops"... I see these as being a very false sense of security, but it is their choice....and that's what this whole thing boils down to... being able to make that choice for yourself and not letting someone else have that power.
And I JUST realized this is cut and pasted from your comment that you left on the article's post so disregard my reaction to "your first line" lol
Gun ownership is a right that won't be gotten back once given up.
Notice how calm the terrorists were after they beheaded their target in London. They knew nobody was armed to alter their plans.
I see there are some 'really well thought out comments' (look up sarcasm) on here, which will not help us Brits one bit. Taking a person's life is a very big deal. It's not a choice I would make lightly, unlike certain 'fundamentalists' these days. It's funny how this article crops up now because I've had conversations with a few people lately about how life in the UK is getting out of hand. Gun ownership, ie - the increasingly necessary 'right to defend life' has entered a couple of these conversations. I for one think it would be wise if our government repealed the handgun ban. Let's face it, not many people owned handguns when they WERE legal (criminals on the other hand, couldn't care less about the law). I've never owned a gun, nor have my parents, nor did my grandparents. I guess - like the majority of people, none in my family thought it necessary to do so. I think that's changed now - given recent & ever increasing distressing events. I know that's a pretty controversial thing to say & of course I expect to be slammed for it by Progressive Army but I'm sorry, you've done enough damage already, you can shove it! I have young children. Supposing a mad gunman stormed the school that MY children attend? I'd prefer it if adults in the vicinity were able to halt a tragedy before it happens because let's face it, the police always turn up twenty minutes too late. I doubt the majority of the British public would consider using a gun on another human being unless it was absolutely necessary to do so. Of course I realise granting the public 'the right to bear arms' will never be considered by lawmakers in Great Britain, meanwhile our rights are being stripped, against our will by non-elected bureaucrats in Europe, every day. Ps. No, I'm not a BNP supporter.
