    A mainstay of political success is the ability to create the illusion of understanding. Obama is expert at this technique because he knows that a seemingly "reasonable" explanation relieves the listener of any responsibility for critical thinking. Unfortunately, the real world is a bit more complicated than that.

    I dont listen to Obama any more. He lies, manipulates, and distorts things with his nonsensical chatter. How do I know if he is lying? When his lips are moving. Same with Hillary. At least Sanders tells you straight up he wants to take your freedoms and money- no lying there. I am voting for Trump, cause he has no political correctness he hides behind and will tell me when the emperor has no clothes. We NEED that for 4 years.

    I took the time to listen to the sou speech, the only time i have done that since Reagan and i don't recall if i listened to him. That said the crisis which isn't a shadow will pass when 0 leaves office.
    He spent the hour reviewing what he believes I guess were his "accomplishments" or what we call failures.are. I believe he has tendentious sight (see's only what he wants) and I also believe if you were to sit down with him today and ask about the speech he will not remember any of it. That of course is how ALL politicians function, they ALL have instant dementia after opening their mouths.

      I was so angry with who was to sit next to Mrs. Obama and what the empty chair represented that I couldn't watch it. Instead of a Syrian refugee sitting next to Mrs. Obama, there should have been a survivor of the San Bernardino terrorist attack in that chair to represent the fourteen people who were killed. And the empty chair should have been occupied by the rape victim with the two children who asked Obama at the CNN town hall meeting on gun control if she could have a gun in the house to protect herself and her family. Obama basically told her that he didn't think so. This poor woman would have represented all the people who have been saved because of guns.

    The "shadow of crisis" may pass when O'Liar leaves office.
    But that may be a forlorn hope.
    At times old dino tries to be optimistic while others here say we are toast.

      Bat-head is being asked to declare martial
      law re: his stand on gun control. If that should
      happen, game over for us!

        Yeah, "when" Bat-Brain leaves may not be when he is supposed to leave. He may have another option.
        Three or four days ago I read from only one email source, and a dinky one at that, that Obama wants to lead the UN in order to run the whole world.
        I almost posted that here but I have not read or heard anything else since to back up that "our worst nightmare" claim.

    Wrong metaphor unless it's been clouded. Crisis is the zenith of a particular situation when it is at it's most critical point. In weather terms that's noon or mid day when the sun is overhead and produces very little shadow. It's short lived and soon over. Which truly wonders how many days something passed him by or was it a cloudy day? Metaphorically speaking that would account for the the entirety of this administration. The longest continuous shadow with date certain. Noon January 20th 2009 to Noon January 20th, 2017. But then it had no zenith. It's as if the world stopped but the spin continued - for eight years. Metaphorically speaking.

    Propping things up with over $12 trillion of new debt not counting foreign investments is hardly having the crisis pass. We are out of such giant band aids, folks. Maybe the world economy and especially US economy will be held together somehow in an election year. But watch out for Jan 2017. Remember Jan 2009? Expect an order of magnitude worse.

    Right. And this year the economy is so much better. Full employment, record profits, record stock market highs. Chicken in every pot, car in every garage. I must be living in an alternate universe.

      Generally the President lies every year. The subject and degree depend on the motive. Is it a campaign speech or a legacy speech. Word is he's runing for UN Secretary General. Don't know if it's true but if so that would make the speech conflicted in motive.

      Generally speaking these speeches are aimed at people who generally lie to themselves generally all of the time.

      I have never been made of any other purpose other than filling TV scheduling time but then generally TV appeals to the same group of people.....generally.

        Agreed. I haven't heard the bit about the UN but this would make sense. This would be one more reason to drop out of the UN. Agenda 21 comes to mind.

    The earth's rotation and the resulting sun's path across the sky causes shadows to form and to change position.
    That change has no effect whatsoever on the structure that is blocking the sun's rays and casting the shadow.
    The burden of looters and bankster puppeteers remains just as solid and massive a crushing weight upon individual liberty and free markets.
