Ideally, the actor playing John Galt in Atlas Shrugged Part 3 will appear to have jumped right off of the pages of Atlas Shrugged. However, in our quest to find the perfect John Galt, some tough choices may have to be made. That's where you come in.

If you had to choose, which would you consider the number one priority in casting John Galt?

A. As long as the actor looks and acts like John Galt, I don't care what his personal beliefs are.
B. The actor needs to possess a deep understanding of, and passion for, Ayn Rand's ideas first and foremost.

I would like to offer up a couple of suggestions that might seem out there but I think either one could easily handle the role. My first and is ideal candidate is Paul Bettany and my second choice would be Alan Tudyk.

B- Absolutely. If only Gary Cooper were still around. The actor must be a conservative, and must have read and deeply understand Rand. John Wayne and Clint Eastwood were GREAT, because they brought their very soul into the roles they played. Jason Beghe was good as Hank Reardon. Better than his predecessor, who was too much a "pretty-boy" male model type. Which big-box-office actors could be good ? - Gary Sinise, hands down. Get him to play John Galt, and this movie will make a difference. I'd invest money as a"producer" if you try to get Sinise. He has the persona, the character, and you can be certain he's read the book. Second Choices that might fit the bill? : Kurt Russell, Bruce Willis, Jim Caviezel, Lorenzo Lamas, Dean Cain -- maybe -- Adam Baldwin ?

I would want the actor to be a conservative. I hate seeing liberals playing the roles of conservatives, i.e. Jane Fonda playing Nancy Regan. I refuse to watch that movie or any movie that uses liberals for conservative causes.

    B. My choice as John Galt would be Bruce Willis. I'm sure he would do it for a song to bring forth the message. As would Clint Eastwood as Director. Jon Voight, Janine Turner, Raquel Welch, Angie Harmon & Bo Derek. And please have Esai Morales reprise his role as Francisco he was terrific!

NO, due to the sensitivity of what is going on in our world and the division between world views, I don't care how good they act, the stigma of the actor's political views will linger around him like skunk smell. It would absolutely ruin the film for many. This is a severely serious topic and cannot be tainted by a lefty who doesn't get the message of the character he is playing.

PLEASE!!! If anyone answers B run for the Gultch or the cemetery. My 15 year old has been SAG for 12 years and read A S when he was 9. Why he isn't part of this film is a mistake. He easily could play Quentin Daniels. Contact me................
    As for Galt???

Definitely NOT Tom Hanks, Leo and any of the others that are big libs, and even though I Iove Depp's acting, I think he is a lib too, not sure about some of the others. It would be an insult to the message of the movie to be played by a lib. It is a matter of principle. Wahlberg, McConaughey, or Denzel, would be good, strong actors, but I am not familiar with their political stance which is a big issue with me for who would play the part, I don't care how well they act, they have a real life and we eventually hear what they believe.

Is there really an actor that understands and likes Ayn Rand's philosophy? I doubt it. You better close the deal with somebody that looks like Galt and attract as much public as possible. Screw the actro's beliefs, as long as the message is passed on to millions of people. For all I care, you can pick Brad Pitt.

    B. His passion for individual worth must be there or it will be like Jane Fonda playing Nancy Reagan; wrong.

I do not find Voight to be a radical but a conservative. If he and Jolie speak, it must be pretty interesting. Depends on how old you are if you remember Deliverance with Burt Reynolds and the Dustin Hoffman movie, Midnight Cowby. He is Angelina Yuk's father.

While B would be nice, the most important thing is A. I don't really care if he believes what he is acting, as long as he acts like John Galt. The point is to draw people in, right? To do that, you need to have someone who looks and acts like the man Dagny has been looking for.

Nathan Fillon, as an actor he comes across as believable in many of his roles and even the sci fi films/ series itshis acting that carries him not the special effects. He speaks with a clear direct tone and I believe that he would be a good choice. Because the film relies more on an actors ability to get you to listen to them I believe that he easily fits this mold. Also if you look at his twitter comments he is more like the proverbial "us" then the hollywood "Them" For this reaso I would select him. and I believe he would actually do it, many of the actors in your movie have also worked with Josh Whedon and this is essential for set chemistry.

I don't think the actor needs to be well-known. He doesn need to have a thorough knowledge of Objectivism to be able to project the character of John Galt.

B is for sure the most important. After all isn't the best acting when the actor understands and connects to the role they are playing? If the actor understands Ayn Rand's ideas he will act like John Galt because he will know who he is as a character.

A young Jon Voight or Chuck Norris would have been good. I have not read the book so not sure what he "looked like" but would prefer it to be someone who is Conservative and not a clueless lefty. I like Mark Wahlberg but not sure of his political stance. I read blogs from lefties who saw the movie out of curiosity and the message went right over their heads, so that would be an INSULT to have one play Gault! Please do not subject your audience to that, we get enough of it in everyday life.

And now, as I am listing top 100 male actors list...how about Keanu Reeves...I can imagine him by his look and I would probably believe the oath. Whoever would play John Galt must look not only that style, but must have that look of bearer of ideas...
