Ideally, the actor playing John Galt in Atlas Shrugged Part 3 will appear to have jumped right off of the pages of Atlas Shrugged. However, in our quest to find the perfect John Galt, some tough choices may have to be made. That's where you come in.

If you had to choose, which would you consider the number one priority in casting John Galt?

A. As long as the actor looks and acts like John Galt, I don't care what his personal beliefs are.
B. The actor needs to possess a deep understanding of, and passion for, Ayn Rand's ideas first and foremost.

Michael Fassbender who played David in Prometheus would be perfect for this roll. Watch this movie and you will see Galt.

Hahaha. I read your mind. I said the same thing a couple minutes ago. He is an independent thinker who speaks his mind, leaning right more often than not, which would calm the fears of those fans that think that should be a consideration, and, also, he is a handsome, talented, and beloved actor. GOOD CHOICE, Monique!!!

I believe casting John Galt to be too critical to waste on the personal beliefs of the actor. We need to cast someone who looks the part and can make the case Galt has to make in his farewell to America speech in a powerful and compelling way. I worry that casting an unknown face would be a mistake. I know the budget is limited but on this one you should get someone who is well known and well liked. Having the star power behind this film could also help it to do better than it's predecessors. Also critical, get Taylor Schilling back for Dagney. Samantha Mathis didn't do it for me.

    A. And it should not be a famous actor identified with some other role. He should understand the character, however, as the ideal man in Rand's value system. Come to think of it, Hugh Jackman looks the part. Is he available?

Definitely B. Without a passion for the ideas of Ayn Rand, the performance will not be believable.

How about Hugh Jackman or Jim Caviesal as John Galt. Brad Pitt would make a wonderful Ragnar, assuming he will be included in part three. Let's have the original players back as Dagny, et al.

    Paul Johannson (Part I)
    Hugh Jackman
    Jim Caveziel
    Eric Dane
    Eric Stoltz

He needs to exude confidence, intelligence, leadership, AND sex appeal.

I think it kind of someone in the middle. I think the actor need to understand the ideas of AS but must also act the part. ASP 3 is Galt's movie.

The actor should embody the spirit of the written character. The best way is to have an actor who believes in the author's viewpoint and therefore can do the role with justice.

I second James Caviezel. He was quite good as
Jesus Christ with Mel Gibson directing. He also plays quite well on "Person of Interest" Soft spoken but tough as nails.

I suggested Brad Pitt. I read the book first in 1963 and I pictured him "pretty with a structured face" and with slightly long, blonde hair. Oh I know most of you will say he is too "mainstream Hollywood" but he is who I picture.

Who plays the part is not really important to me as I believe that movies seldom do justice to the books that they are based upon. I do hope that the movie series will serve as a wake-up call to people who have for far too long sat on the sidelines as the government has slowly and methodically infringed upon our freedoms through taxation, regulation and legislation.
