Ideally, the actor playing John Galt in Atlas Shrugged Part 3 will appear to have jumped right off of the pages of Atlas Shrugged. However, in our quest to find the perfect John Galt, some tough choices may have to be made. That's where you come in.

If you had to choose, which would you consider the number one priority in casting John Galt?

A. As long as the actor looks and acts like John Galt, I don't care what his personal beliefs are.
B. The actor needs to possess a deep understanding of, and passion for, Ayn Rand's ideas first and foremost.

My last suggestion is Ben Affleck like he looked in 0 Dark 40..I don't see Matt Damon in the part.

Why settle for an actor ?
Would Rand Paul (the senator, whose first name might not have been chosen at random) be OK to play the part ?
Would it be compatible with his current occupation as a senator ?
After all, he knows how to pitch, and he probably deeply understands the spirit of the novel.

Joe Flanigan would be good for John Galt so would David Hewlett.

B: without question, although this will be difficult. Pick someone the right age that, at least, understands the character, like Grant Bowler in AS1. I thought he did a great job as Rearden because he understood the character.

The purpose of the movie is to tell the ideas to those who don't know them, not to please those of us who are already there. Therefore, A. Although the wording of the choice "I don't care what his personal beliefs are" could be better.

Remember those mentioned are actors so I am sure they can handle a convincing performance of Ayn Rands' philosophy

Ideally it would be both A and B, but given the constraints of the acting community I would choose the person who will give the best dilivery of the message even if he does not personally understand it. The other side has this down pat and our side is so far behind in this area we can't afford to waste an opportuity to capture hearts and minds.

I think it has to be B. What about Ted Nugent. He would make a great articulate John Galt.

A - but he must be able to convincingly act out the passion with apparent deep conviction or it will be flat and a failure. The actor MUST very very good!

The actors in II almost ruined the series.

Regardless of personal beliefs, a great actor should be able to look and act like John Galt.
