2016 will be a wild ride
I have been mulling this over regularly, as signs of it pop up more and more. 2016 is going to be a wild ride. Government regulation is forming a head about to explode. As I type this, we have a siege on a Federal facility in Oregon. Our borders have remained wide open while we've been fighting a long war on "terrorism". (Is this our longest war ever?) The Chief is spending his last year in office. The tv coverage of Time Square on New Years interviewed adults who were bragging about wearing diapers. The GOP is in disarray, essentially leaving a 1-party system. My buddies are all having to register their little model airplanes(!?) or face a $25K fine. I have to pat my tummy, rub my head, and do a naked cartwheel to buy a gun. This week, they will start turning children back as they return to public schools, then notifying the CPS that the kids are truant, at risk, and should be taken away.
I've been watching all this developing over the past couple years and thinking to myself, "What the hell is going on?" I do have a few close friends who see it too. We often huddle at the playground while our kids play and we discuss this stuff in hush tones, hoping to not be overheard...haha...
I'm a little tongue-in-cheek here, but not much. I certainly feel a quickening now - toward what, I'm really not sure. But, it's not more freedom. I couldn't help but think this is being reflected in the markets this morning, too...

I never thought I'd live to see the day where I was so self-conscious on a daily basis.
The downhill slide is happening more quickly now. What is sad is the number of people who do not view what is happening as a downhill slide. They view it as progress.
If one views the world like so many of the people here in The Gulch view it, then you're right, it is sad. And frightening. (Sorry for speaking for more than just myself. Feel free to blow me up, Gulchers, if I've overstepped.)
But if your desire is to see this country turned into the dystopia that Ayn Rand so brilliantly created in Atlas Shrugged, then we are making real progress. As a country, we're getting closer and closer to what they want, so of course it's positive to them.
Your comments remind me of something I've been saying more the past few years. "I hate being right." I, desperately, want to be wrong about 2016 in America.

Reversing the decline depends on spreading the right ideas. Only then can a proper government be instituted in the proper form with the proper functions and purpose. With people believing in sacrifice as the essence of morality, collectivism, statism and various forms of irrationalism like Pragmatism with its opposition to principle on principle, it won't happen.
Guess that's called being convolutedly brainwashed.

Maybe "wild ride" has something to do with it.
I've been witnessing this effect in mature adults, who immediately dismiss any facts they don't like. I've even shown them video evidence of their own idols saying things that are utter nonsense, and the response is always "That was taken out of context," even when the video clip is many minutes long.
There are some younger people who agree with me that it's impossible to have a useful discussion of issues when your opponent simply dismisses any pretense of facts or logic. That gives me some hope that not all are lost in the miasma of the delusion of "free stuff."
Yes, the "low information voter" is the goal of both, but particularly of the liberal political party. It has been their agenda for many decades, if not half a century. If the public schools can squirt out those who either have been filled with wrong and liberally slanted info, or just a complete absence of any intellictual curiousity you get an easily manipulated electorate.
To your point about what you sense is on the horizon, yes, I agree and have been saying this for the last couple of years when Obama's deeds have become entrenched. All the bad actors on the world stage will do whatever bad acts they are able to in these next 11 months because they know the U.S. has neither the will or ability to react or deter their actions, as we see right now with Iran and Saudi Arabia. But I would not be surprised to see China act up over Taiwan (although they have their hands full keeping their economy from imploding), N.Korea and of course Russia continuing their riding roughshod over anyone they choose, and ISIS/ Islamic terrorists in general. These next 11 months will be, imo, the most dangerous of our lifetime. We are living with the dire consequences of elections. This is why I encourage everyone to get informed and involved in local politics - from Board of Education on up. If not as a candidate then helping ( advising or donating ) to campaigns, or seek out your local party organization and see what you can do to help them. Is either party perfect ? No. But they won't get any better either if all one does is sit on the sidelines and criticize. ( Not saying that is what you were doing; just speaking generally. ) Like the old bromide: You're either part of the problem or part of the solution. Happy New Year. :-/
It all boils down to one thing and one thing only "education". This has been pointed out repeatedly in the writings of Ayn Rand. The fellow you reference is part of an incredibly large portion of our population. We have schools but we do not have educators.
We are observing two things...a last ditch hard court press to complete Albert Pikes 3 world wars that end in a Hegelian dialectic one world kakistocracy -[government]; something those that think they should rule over us since the dawn of time want. The second thing; and closer to home, is that those in power seem to be the dumbest creatures in creation, they lie, they are envious and are psychotic in nature and it only gets worse from here.
The first thing is planed by creatures that can not exist on their own and use us to support them...they are not conscious nor human in the same sense we are...it's always been this way and they are always the rule[less] class.
The second is not only a symptom of the making of useful idiots but also those without a mind, without awareness to control the temptations of their own brain lacking the ability to combat the electromagnetic effects of increased solar and cosmic radiation due expressly to the present grand solar minimum, our weakening magnetic shielding, shrinking atmosphere and roaming magnetic poles...all of this has adverse effects upon the human/humanoid brain and seems to follow the fall of civilizations.
It's really up to us, Conscious Human beings, with our heads on straight; to make sense of this and prepare and make sure that this time such things will never happen again. We, the true elite should guide - (not rule) the rest into higher levels of consciousness and permanently subdue those that oppose the consequences of creation by 180.

Now, we are essentially bankrupt, yet still engaging in deficit spending and money printing in a last ditch effort to stay afloat.
Perhaps we can fix this by withdrawing all forces overseas and ceasing the various wars we are involved in. Sticking to defending OUR country, and stopping right NOW all deficit spending. Cutting seriously back on useless bureaucracy and its costs. Cutting the budget 10% per year for 5 years as a start.
This is dreaming however, as its never going to happen at this point given the fact that a majority of people just want to get stuff from the government and have the rest pay for it.
