Do you read Galt's Gulch Online? Whoever you want to be your Bad Guys, they may control the Mainstream Media, but they do not control everything.

We can enjoy all the stories from all around the conservative blogosphere. I found 10 "We are Breitbart" Meetups. Drudge Report, PJ Media, American Thinker, ... Glenn Beck, Alex Jones, and Ron Paul ... Do you consider them all also controlled by the Powers that Be just to provide us with distractions and entertainment?

And we get posts here linking even to Huffington Post.

You will find many self-styled patriots who read and quote RU-TV, Russian Television, i.e., Vladimir Putin's propaganda outlet. But RU-TV is anti-American, so they hate President Obama, and conservatives love those stories. You can find al-Jazeera online. Times of London, Times of India... Der Spiegel, FranceSoir, La Prenza... I recommend not going there because they might take control of your computer, but the Peoples Liberation Army of China has a newspaper website in English.

And that's just newspapers. You can find radio and television stations online. And speaking of broadcast, shortwave radio, ham radio,... the American Radio Relay League has its own communication satellites in orbit. In fact, they launched first, before AT&T's much-touted Telstar: December 12, 1961 for OSCAR-1 and July 10, 1962 for TelStar.

The Library of Congress, the British Museum, the Smithsonian Institute... For seven years, I wrote a monthly column for the American Numismatic Association, reviewing websites about money: museums, central banks, Mints, universities, private collectors, dealers and auction houses ...

Because of the Industry Group for Tangible Assets, we know about the shenanigans of the central banks, forcing the price of gold down. We know about JP Morgan-Chase's naked shorts on silver.

Stocks and bonds, commodities (spot and futures) ... energy... transportation...

I get daily news stories from National Geographic, Nature, and Science. I cannot read them all. I just scan the headlines and read what seems interesting.

Constrained by a peer-review process that has come under criticism, scientists have their own online open journals. You are on your own there, but at least no one is filtering what you are allowed to read.

Why read when you can watch YouTube? You can find tutorials on everything from programming in Java, and machining your own handgun, and jailbreaking your cellphone, to opening a can without a can opener and playing Beatles songs on your guitar.

I do not listen to podcasts, so I have nothing to say, except that they do exist and you can fill your ears and head with whatever news, commentaries, opinions, .... sports, or entertainment pleases or teases you.

The original post is my response to those here who claim that we cannot know the truth because the Mainstream Media lies to us. I am reminded of the cartoon by Alexis Gilliland from The Iron Law of Bureaucracy: "Sure the newspapers lie! Sure the government lies! But in a democracy, they are not the same lies!"

You have crooked cities, and totalitarian states, but globally, transnational capitalism promises and delivers more freedom than we ever had before.

I'm having to agree and support with the Mike on this one. One of the most heavily quoted and a dead giveaway to heed the warning - 'Just cause it's on the internet doesn't make it true' - is the Guardian and it's heavily slanted to the left. Just as some sources are slanted to the what may properly be called the right wing of the left and a few to the Libertarian area. Some quote facts not in existence with no sources.

Grain of salt and then maybe sprinkle a bit more is always good advise. Urban myths such as oil being exported are exploded daily. The phrase I have a constitutional right to this or that has list of over fifty common expressions which don't exist in the constitution.

One of the blessings of Objectivism is the insistence on facts in evidence and the continued fact checking as new technology creates new answers not available in the past.

Just cause Grandpa and Dad voted left or Grandma and Mom voted the other way doesn't make it true anymore.

My favorite ...just cause the Socialists define center as the center of the left does not make that true. A lesson lost on one failed l scholar named Barak Obama. It's the Constitution.

You can pick your own? Some like prefer Mein Kampf or The Communist Manifesto. Some choose other centers....They are NOT what we are about. Why? No facts, no proofs, just...the stuff of dreams. The Huffing of Huffingtons and Puffing of WaPos and the gagging of guardians. I'm being insulting on purpose in case you missed that detail.

Galt's Gulch? A haven for sanity....reason... and a place to make sense out of the most illogical source on the planet. Internet.

Excuse me I have to go fill my gas tank at townhall.
