Watching Atlas Shrugged Part 1 today, I will have to say that if it has a fault it is not in the production quality. I have seen films that made good money at the theater done with less production value. It is not because it's too boring with characters talking about money and politics. I can think of several George Clooney films that have far less action. No, if Atlas Shrugged Part 1 has a problem, it is because the film is too intellectual. It does not suger coat its intellectual premise, and those who find that challenging, who have been socially conditioned otherwise, find that intellectual message a threat to their very lives--which they should. Atlas Shrugged Part 1 is a very good film, and I have no doubt with the passion that went into Part 2, that it too will be a great film. So good luck. A film dedicated to "those who make the world move" will not be traditionally popular the way typical films would be. The message is so powerful that it takes a minute to sink in for the average person. So enjoy the premier and soon the rest of the country will have the honor of that intellectual message even if at first glance they find it too powerful next to the typical flat plotlines of an average movie.

    Rush has talked about free plugs before. Imagine youpaid for an ad on his show and someone gets a plug for free. Everyone who paid says where is my free plug? If you try to plug your own biz on air you get the dump button!

    Yeah, but he gets a set amount of money for his show, so he talks about what we wants to, until it is over.

    The one thing about part one is, you have to have a reasonable amount of intelligence to understand it. Which I like, but many people like to be spoon fed everything.

    Doc is a huge fan. He's in Detroit now on the number #10 radio market in the whole country. Doc also subs for Glenn Beck when he's sick.....hint, hint. There is no reason that Atlas Shrugged Part 2 couldn't do at least $50 million at the box office no matter what the reviews are. All it needs is for us to show up and see it. I plan to see it at least four times the opening weekend. Because unlike a vote in a ballot box, you can vote more than once, and a movie ticket is a vote for this kind of film.

    When I went to see 2016, they did play this trailer. I don't know why Rush doesn't tell people to go see it either.

    As a political satirist myself, I have been following Limbaugh for years.

    His audience is anything but drones taking marching orders.

    However, an endorsement from him goes a long, long way, and he is a very vocal fan of Ayn Rand and Atlas Shrugged.

    I wouldn't be surprised if he mentions it himself.

    I loved part 1. I watched it on netflix about six times. My favorite part is the high speed bullet train speeding through the Rockies, on the new Rearden Steel tracks. It reminded of the early days of the railroad, when the steam engines blazed through the Rockies, and made America great. Government did not build that; private people, like Otto Mears did.

    If Rush alone would give a 30 second snippitt the theaters would be overrun. Over half would be mindless drones but they would see Atlas foe themselves and it might awaken their minds. I had never heard of Atlas or Rand until I saw a lone commercial for the DVD release. Something about it intrigued me so I bought it. Then I found out it was a book. I read it and then bought copies of the book and the DVD. The rest is history.

    I do to. I think a movie like this playing in 500 theaters should be able to get over the profit threashold. There is an Ayn Rand presence on Netflix, people know about it now that they bought the book after the first movie. Things should be better this time around. I would think it should do as well as 2016 at least. It would be great if there was radio coverage with Beck and Limbaugh. Also, Doc Thompson in Detroit I know is a fan. That kind of thing can go a long way.

    I understand that this movie will never garner the same success of say The Avengers. But I would love to see the movie do well so that John and Harmon and the other investors turn a profit. Selfishly I really want to see scene where Eddie standing watch over the abandoned comet and is approached by a covered wagons.

    This is so true. And it is not limited to film either.
    Much of what is produced is so risk averse it tends to follow the standard patterns that are widely acceptable.

    It is so refreshing to see/watch or hear something that is different ... when one gets the opportunity.

    I liked the movie, Avatar. It showed how a society could actually live in a communist environment, provided you had hair that could link to the common mind on a made up planet.

    No we don't. Jim Cameron is one of those really wonderful filmmakers who started off great, but found himself seduced by altruism once he reached success. Avatar is one of those films. He put all the effort into making it look great, but it was missing intelligence, which is why people don't feel strongly about that movie now that its been seen. It's a movie that's easy to forget, unlike Atlas. Too many people stop growing at the age 15. That is not the problem of those who didn't. Thank goodness Atlas Shrugged has finally been made into a movie, because the people who continue to grow, finally have something to see at the movies that is made for them.

    Bear in mind that the typical film (Avatar, for instance) is built from the ground up for the fifteen-year-old mind. After Atlas 1's box office bust, my attitude toward the Avatar audience is good effin' riddance. We don't need 'em.
