I don't think the internet levels the playing the field, it helps but it still doesn't come close to the power that mass media all preaching the same tune does. The internet gives us a place to seek out the information if we choose to do it, but more people than not are conditioned to mass media. I wasn't really referring to getting the message out though, I was referring more or less to crony capitalism. Sure it involves more than just money in politics, but there are plenty of examples of money buying government positions, especially campaign donors getting jobs from the Obama administration lately. Money buying votes by politicians. If a guy guy can be bribed or "owned" through campaign donations he will be. If a guy can be blackmailed, he will be.

It's a tough issue for me to decide my opinion on. I like to think I believe in complete economic freedom, but the fact is money in politics is used to buy pull and other favors. Wesley Mouch comes to mind. I'm pretty much undecided on the issue, would love to hear different peoples opinion on the issue.
