I had an arsenal of weapons once, including a bright orange machine gun which went click click click etc when you pulled the trigger.

LS is going to eat me alive for saying this-but I didn't let my kids play with toy guns. He made them out other toys anyway so I had to abolish my policy as going against one's nature. my husband was relieved

That was precisely my husband's point "they'll just use something else and say 'bang bang'..THEY'RE BOYS!" Now I have to tell this story (I heard the groans!)...When my oldest was 3 (and before son #2) I took him on a trip to MI to see my family...(this was before 9-11)...I had packed his toy guns and they got removed from his bag at airport security..I was livid...plastic toy guns!! I lost the argument but I refused to throw them away so they "stored" them for me to pick up on our way back home. While we were in MI he was playing in my parent's back yard and he was running around pointing something in his hand at random things and making a "P-chew" sound repeatedly. I finally said, "What does he have in his hand?" He had taken a small collapsible photo stand from one of my Mom's pictures and was using THAT for a gun...it was the perfect size too! How he even thought of doing that I have NO idea. lol When we tried to pick up the guns on the way back they couldn't find them! 3 months later they showed up in the mail. lol

Am I the only one who noticed that it's 'uniformed Army personnel' patrolling and policing in civilian areas?

So...does this mean the Vigipirate anti-terror surveillance plan was a failure or a success since the surveillance didn't stop the soldier from being stabbed in the neck, but they're using the surveillance to find the terrorist...?? I'm thinking FAIL. I'm so confused. Was the soldier unarmed while he was patrolling? And yeah, why in a civilian area? You'd think he'd have a weapon being on patrol and all. I'm STILL waiting for SOMEthing to make sense..AND for Joss to answer my question about what he thought guns were for if not defense....sigh

Fail is right, but I bet their uniforms are goodlooking.
I'm surprised vigipirate hasn't shown up as a name in the gulch.
I'm still waiting for a few fiesty replies on the post from hell. I'm very cranky today because we went to the beach to launceh the sailboat and the dang car would not start. luckily on a sunday you can call your local personal car repair hombre and he will rush right over to the beach, identify the problem, speed to the nearest city for the part, return, affect the repair and not lighten your pockets too much. but I'm not on the water ;(

The post from hell? dk's post? Sorry you're not on the water. That's a bummer. You're still on a beach though. (A good looking uniform, or no uniform at all apparently, does not protect a soldier. I can't get over this. What good is a cop or soldier who is weaponless? Who makes these decisions? It's mind melting.)

It won't surprise me if the assailant fled into a 'no-go' zone for kaffirs. The "no-go" zones include police, emergency and fire personnel as well. Not a muslim? Stay the heck out. So much for that bally-hoo'd "Multiculturalism" and "Tolerance" huh?
