Facebook Censors Yet Again

Do you use Facebook? Are you aware of their censorship? Its a private company and they have the right to do so, but do you agree with their turning over your information without notice to the government?

    One is free,including these anti GMO protestors, to self host like I so but Facebook has every right to take such down on private property. Not to mention such claims are not scientifically proven and should be consider slander. I would dare say Facebook has do humanity a great favor.
    They can stay on naturalnews or I dare say natural snake oil.

      Snake Oil? Really? There is plenty of evidence that GMO's are not good for humans, livestock or Bee's for that matter. But I digress, the post was about them turning over your info to the government without your knowledge, but I like how you used Snake Oil as an ad-hominem to support your position. Nice one.

        everything you eat has been genetically modified for centuries. The only thing new, is a new technique of directly manipulating the DNA. This whole complaint of genetically modified foods is irrational. The same people who push anti-genetically modified foods, have been responsible for the deaths due to starvation of millions of people.
        This makes those proponents unfit to weigh in . I understand the science, max. and your stance is anti-human.
        "Hey farmer, farmer put away your DDT
        I don't care about spots on my apples
        leave me the birds and bees, please..."
        This verse of a sweet song, helped to ban DDT and was responsible for the death of over 100 million people.

          Anti Human? DDT? You don't know what a GMO is do you? A GMO is a food that has had traits added to the DNA that creates a toxin to repel insects, or make it resistant to fungus or other issues.

          Go back and study some more then come back before you start using more ad-hominems like Anti-Human.

            yes, I understand a GMO. I was using the DDt example from the past to show how dangerous emotional stances are.
            repelling insects. uh, that's how coffee has evolved. caffeine is a natural insecticide. Science and technology are good, max. advancements in genetics for plants has led to increased life expectancy not decreased. Without DNA modified foods, 1/10 of the world's population would starve to death. this isn't just about those mean multi-nationals. Significant work is being done at our universities. Kansas State is a big leader, for example. We do intellectual property max. we spend lots of time and energy on the science of inventions in bio-tech among other industries.

              While I agree technology can be good, you can't flat out deny that technology can be abused. Its not a black and white example. And while you contend that people would starve without GMO, we got along without it for a LONG time. Coffee "evolving" is not comparable to modifying a product to the point where it kills the beneficial bacteria in the colon or causes colony collapse, or creates a situation where Indian farmers are forced to buy from Monsanto year after year. To say nothing of the law suits filed by Monsanto for fees when they have caused cross contamination. Spending lots of time and energy on the science of inventions and bio-tech etc is not in contention, and has no bearing on the point. And to speak of emotional arguments, you state that 1/10th of the world would starve if not for GMO! "The same people who push anti-genetically modified foods, have been responsible for the deaths due to starvation of millions of people." This is an outright sack of crap. How you make this jump is beyond me, but it is a TOTALLY fallacious statement that is an emotional argument if there ever was one, as was calling me anti-human.
              Man this conversation makes me want to close my membership here. I expect better from people who are fans of Rand.

      You are right that their stance is snake oily. However, Facebook has become ham fisted as late on carrying out policy. It is sure to drive away customers, result in some bad press(they've had a fair amt lately), loss of advertising. You see, if no one knows the actual rules of the game-the rules on the books is different from rules selectively applied, people won't play

    Well, technically a website is the private property of whatever person or company owns it. Therefore, Facebook has a right to restrict certain kinds of speech on its own private property (that private property being the website).

    If you're on Facebook then you're signing up for and agreeing to whatever facebook wants to do with your information. They're in the gov's back pocket... wake up. Some people are so desperate for attention they don't care a wit about privacy issues.
