Not saying good or bad about insurance companies but there is more to the cost of insurance than the 5% profit. There are all the added costs for the 3rd party (insurance companies) including wages paid, buildings and many other costs that increase the cost of healthcare. This is significant in itself and the kicker is hospitals and clinics have the same number of people billing the insurance companies, so there are double the expenses. If people just paid the hospital directly it would eliminate the entire additional cost of insurance. Just saying.

Insurance company profits run about 5%. The idea that the insurance companies are the problem has been promoted by the left to let them get control of healthcare. They do make a lot of money but that's because 5% of a really big number is a lot.

Another way to look at it is that if you completely got insurance company profits out of the picture the amount you saved would be eaten up by cost increases within a year. It's the cost increases that we have to deal with. We need to use technology to get cost decreases.

I've run the numbers and, truth be told, our current medical system BEFORE Obamacare was/is very inefficient and overpriced. They took that system and then just tried to socialized it! It can't work.
