Avira is working perfectly so far...The only squawk is from Web Root The other ED version had two types which is for a PC using Mozilla Firefox and slowly adding or going to Linux?

I've worked with several. Of the paid one's, Kaspersky is the one I like most. I avoid Symantec's bloat like the plague. McAfee isn't much better. Panda is okay, but overpriced.

From free ones, AVG is good. I also have one I use on my Windows box I can't recall, but was very lightweight. I've also used BitDefenders other products and would definitely try their AV product.

Eset Smart Security . The best anti virus program I know and I have used many. Very reasonable pricing too. I have used it for 10 years and no virus problems yet.

My free AVG has just turned on me.
Now it is buy or nada. In other words, my AVG for free is gone.
Today I will be looking for something else.
Say, this post is very timely. Very coincidental too.

I've been using Avast Free for years. True occasionally they want to sell the pro version but it's not required. In addition I have a lifetime subscription to Malwarebytes, and WinPatrol. Never had an issue with any of them.

Product function aside, if you are looking for "good business ethics" or no catch billing etc.
The answer is all of them pretty much are lying snakes.
Do a web search for complaints on any of them.

The way to avoid it, is never give them payment info, buy a boxed product from Amazon or a local store, then all is good.

Some people simply run Linux. No such worries at all.

ESET Smart Security. The heavy lifting is written in assembly language to optimize.

Downloaded both thank you. I'll do Avira first and then the other in turn on two computers. Webroot was a good program but having just bought the second year three months ago to have them stiff me for the same bill already is a bit over the acceptable
    top....

AVAST must be run by Secular Progressives...ten thumbs down for the reaons stated and i had to high format the drive to get rid of it.

Avast began to crash windows to BSD on my laptop about 6 months ago. Then the same thing happened on another laptop. Avast was not responsive. I switched to Avira (free.) So far so good.
