I'm with you!

Mmmeh - it get's a little tricky. Mainly when it comes to national security, coordinating exchange between communities, and a few other things that are the rightful purview of a small and limited government. I'm not a total anarchist, just a proponent of a VERY restricted rule.

There needs to be some sort of governing body because there will always be irrational men, rational men can disagree, mistakes happen. and "broken" people are born.

Thomas Sowell is usually right on the money (no pun intended). I'm mulling this over that perhaps one term politicians might be quite valuable. Hopefully they do what they say they're going to do before it's time to go home (no chance to get reelected, do your public service and get out), AND it might generate more interest in politics and voting from those who are generally comfortable in "not getting involved" (maybe). Value for value. Mr. Sowell might be onto something...again. (One thing is for sure, career politicians are a large part to blame for where we are today...ie Nancy Pelossi, Harry Reed... people just vote for them because they know their names and it's easy.)

I want a world filled with men and women filled with reason. Those serving their own rational self interest. No governing body would even need to exist in such a place.

Yeah... That was my general sense of it, too. I just thought the article brought up an interesting concept, which had never occurred to me. I'm still quite inclined to agree with you, though. I can't even fathom how we could close the gap between today's career politicians, and the part-time, please-don't-make-me-do-it public servants of our forefathers' time. Sowell's suggestion of combining a higher wage with single-term limits, seemed intriguing to me at first glance.

Wrong, wrong, and wrong. Then wrong again. Here is the typical belief from a social looter that money can buy quality without understanding what makes something good. The trouble with politics is that there is too much money to be made off legalized theft, so in their case the pay would have to be reduced so scum bags who can't make a life on their own without public office wouldn't be motivated to become politicians in the first place.

Poor Thomas. I do hope a cure for dementia is found in the near future.

I don't want politicians. I want judges, police officers, generals, etc.
