I tend to like this one "adherence to moral and ethical principles; soundness of moral character; honesty."
What moral code do we adhere to?
What ethical principles do we follow?
For more than 30 years we have taken prayer out of school, the discussion around the 10 commandments is non-existent. Like religion or not, these provided some definition of the moral and ethical principles we live by.
What is presented today in schools? What is presented by your boss at work.
Is misleading a person by silence a lie? It use to be, but often our leaders do it every day.
While the Clinton affair would not have been a big deal if not for the lying under oath, what does that say about our society? Its ok to break an oath you took at marriage because it was not a legally binding oath anyway?
To answer your question integrity is in short supply because for 50 years we have revealed in people who do not exercise it in some way.
Nixon was not bad for what he did, but he was bad because he got caught. I have heard the justification of "every president was doing it, he just got caught" from people every time this subject came up in a history class. What does that teach our young people?
Example close to home. My daughter (12) got an award that up until this year was given to only one student in each grade school. She was ecstatic to have received it. Then she found it they changed it to one student in every 6th grade classroom. We found out later (if true) that she was the first pick of the 6th grade teachers. She felt robbed. The reason, they wanted to help more kids have great self-esteem. Well now the award means much less to one kid and not much to the other two. We also gave an entire class the idea that it does not pay to be the best.
We do this not only there, but with ribbins when kids are little. It teaches that they do not need to have integrity in their effort in order to win. It begins the process of chasing it from there very souls.
These are few examples and thoughts of why its in such short supply and it is up to the parents to talk with there kids and bring it back.
Do what you say you're going to do.
Do the right thing even if no one is watching.
Always do your best at any job you do.
(I work at a school so the topic of bad parenting hits a chord. It is pretty much to blame for almost every shortcoming a kid might have. Some parents act as if their kids are a hobby...or worse.)
That is why the Enemedia is polling so low.
The people know that their media has become nothing more that a sad Soviet joke for comedians to lampoon.
If this hasn't hit The Talkers yet, I think that it will tomorrow.

I have found Mr. Caddell to be an exception among democrat pollster, analyst, and commentators. He is an honest, honorable democrat among mostly shallow thinking propagandists and useful idiots in the media. I do not agree with all that he has to say, but he is more objective and fair than most of his peers.
