Retired but with 21 years of being a corrections officer under my belt, I'm still more aware of my surroundings than most even where an armed guard is present..

I agree with the bullet points. I would also apply them to any mass shootings. Mass shootings, while horrific, are very rare and don't call for special policies and precautions.

I definitely agree with being prepared, carrying a weapon, knowing basic emergency measures, etc, as a general rule. But obsessing about rare perils is how they justify taking away rights: "He walked in with an assault rifle and until he pulled it out hadn't broken any laws! This must change. Why does anyone need..."

I "always carry a concealed firearm where legal."
I also carry it in gun free zones that do not have a metal detector, such as the credit union I "bank" at.
Why? I figure the armed guard will be the first person neutralized one way or the other.
That is why I do not open carry, which is also legal in my state.
I rarely see an open carry. It's not hard to figure out the why.

My dad is a banker, and he has seen this. If they're planning to attack someone they attacked the armed guard first, even if she/he did nothing more than any other citizen present who hopefully is armed.

I agree completely. There's no need to tell the enemy what they're up against. Bring them to your field of battle at the time and place of your choosing, don't let them take the initiative. This is ancient wisdom.
