25 years ago we just theorized there were probably planets around other stars. We didn't know for sure that our sun wasn't special. I'm amazed so much as changed.

    >Lissauer said in a statement. "We've now developed a process to verify multiple planet candidates in bulk to deliver planets wholesale, and have used it to unveil a veritable bonanza of new worlds."

It sounds like they're opening up a Sam's Club in the Milky Way for planets. I heard someone say "Why are we looking for intelligent life elsewhere? There's not much intelligent life here!" 8-)

After all the searching, they still haven't found anyplace that fulfills the anthropic principle like earth. The Goldilocks zone.

To coin a phrase, "Where are they?"

It seems to me it's that lamp fallacy with the guy looking for his lost item only under the streetlamp b/c that's the only place he can see. It's easier to see Jupiters, so that's what we mostly find. I suspect there are more earth-like planets; time will tell.

Wait... I was watching a science show the other day... Nova?... and they had found a planet that might have been suitable for life, but it was outside the Goldilocks zone...

Then they found another planet IN the Goldilocks zone that appears to be perfect.

Dang it, I meant to keep track of the star's name...
