The scenario that keeps coming into my mind is that the terrorists try the same thing in the US and 5,847 people pull handguns out of their purses and backpacks and blow the bastards to little pieces of red goo.

do you really want to see it happen to YOU or one of your relatives or friends? I don't think so.

Not John, but answering anyway: No, I do not want to see it happen to my friends. But I would like to see the scene happen where the victims turn on the perps and take them out, and the US is one of the places that this could happen. And if it DID happen that way, it would certainly cause comment in the manner that we would like: That we are safer being free (and carrying guns) than we are in being protected. If it came down to it, I would be willing to roll the dice and let them fall where they may - and take the chance that I would be amongst the victims. Since that is what will happen anyway, will I or nil I, I do not actually increase my risk by stating that I am willing for it to happen.

Of course, since I live in CA, I will have to take the perps out with my bare hands...

I can think of three specific airplanes. Something like that was tried on one. Nothing apparently was done on the others. And all they had was box cutters. The passengers had armament and protection against that level of threat all around. In the infantry about ten percent actually do the killing. Where you going to get 584.7 together in one spot. In the military most of the legal restrictions are removed. No worries. In civilian life most restrictions aren't known but feared. It isn't 1900 any more. And these are not the kind of people who would make it on the frontier - After all they elected King George the III and IVth on cue!

A martial arts student of mine (beautiful, brilliant, fortunately something of a smart ass or she would have been unendurable) was doing research in Maui when 9/11 happened. For a short time, she had anxiety over the flight back to the mainland. I told her that her plane would have absolutely no problems, because if someone tried to take it over, she would be the First One over the back of the seats to take out the terrorists. “oh. OH. OKaaay.”

She boarded the plane right after an elderly man with a wooden cane; she watched where he placed it. (The martial art we do might loosely be termed a type of stick fighting.) After that, she relaxed and enjoyed the flight –because she knew that she could personally take out several box-knife armed men with that cane. (And every man on the flight would then have joined on her side…or their penises would have fallen off.)

The first martial arts practice Jan ran after 9/11 had hands on demonstrations of how much damage could be done with a tightly rolled magazine by someone who had practiced the aforementioned stick fighting.

    Unconstitutional is unconstitutional.
The evidence indicates that some of the feds were complicit in 9/11.
The Dems tried to pass parts of the Patriot Act under Clinton and failed. They needed a Pearl Harbor to get the people to consent to be enslaved, and 9/11 was the false flag event that was arranged, and was condoned by the GOP and the Bush administration.
ISIS would not have been created without the traitorous acts of the fedgov.
France is a completely different set of circumstances, but in both cases the borders to illegals should be controlled and illegals deported.
The argument that the illegals in the US will just disappear if the freebies are stopped is foolishness. The illegals would find it easier to survive in the US than the extreme expense of going back to their home countries. Crime would skyrocket as a result. If Trump gave it any rational thought he would have come to this conclusion. Perhaps he has come to this conclusion, but is unwilling to speak the truth when he knows he will face such criticism from the media, and it will hurt his chances.

It also occurs to me that these attacks in Paris could be the Pearl Harbor that the EU wants to impose their version of the Patriot Act.

Never forgetting the other wing is the right wing of the left as Hillary's is the extreme left wing of the left. Still the same one party one focus (government over people) system of government.

The opposite for the uninitiated or unaware is Citizens Over Government as temporary employees.

Different area FFA brought up how it affected USA. The end of that comment is the Jihadis are using standard terrorism as a revolutionary weapon. Europe was excused for a while by paying off the Jihadis....Meanwhile they welcomed the invaders into the target area. Blackmailers only stay bought until the next payment comes due. Europe is also more fragmented. EU and Nato possibly but they don't provide the glue and some of Europe will join in for their own reasons. Did the Catalonians ever get a separate country status? Short of participating (by some) in the middle east adventures of recent times most of their military is not blooded....It's wait and see and wait and see how long before 9/11 returns in it's new cycle. Target, technique, tactics, all of it....whichever it will be full of civilians and largely unprotected. That is the one common denominator but where, when, how? There are so many from which to choose. Jihadi's are however big on symbolism. they passed up their most lucrative target - while Tom Clancy did not - the last time.

I know a lot of illegals, here in the states, who get no freebies, most of them do not. The only benefit our cleaning lady gets is Medicaid for her daughter, who was born in the states. Her older brother and mother get nothing and yes, the income taxes get paid every year, I do them for her. Yes, I am a tax attorney.

Two points and a question If income tax were replaced with an end user consumption tax what would you do for a living? I often wonder why not ask those we assume would be on the unemployment rolls if that is a fair statement. How would you adjust your profession to suit a new system? Including change over to actual up and running? If you want make a new discussion out of it using the button in the top right or bottom right corners.

Staiy out of the cities but remember the terrorist handbook calls for striking where least expected, least protected with lots of collateral damage. Airplanes? Not a chance. Greyhound bus? Certainly. Major league sports venue? Probably not. Local high school friday night basketball game? Watch Carrie. But being out of the cities spreads the percentages as much as possible. the rule is whatever they hit it will b e something else something different the next time.

Happily, I tend to be a loner, and crowd adverse, so the only places I go that might be targets would be grocery store and movie theater. Hmmm. Home movie studio getting to be a better thought.

I appreciate your advice. I live in Ca, so there will not be many people around me who are carrying.

When one Japanese general was asked after WW2 why they never attempted an attack on the US mainland, he said, we were outgunned. He said they could take the coast, but never any further. I lived for 10 years in a small valley in Wyoming and one night at the bar, with most of us (70) in there we counted up guns and ammo and I was the low with only 5 guns and about 500 rounds. The guy in town with the FFL had over 100 guns and 2 million rounds. Overall, we had over 500 guns and close to 5 million rounds. We also had a plan to make the valley self-sustainable ( we had oil, gas, water, thermal water, enough scrap to build a refinery and the expertise to make it work). There are pockets of America which will never be rooted out. I know of a couple of others, very defensible, sustainable and well armed. I might have to eat a bunch of venison, we'll make it work. I have a place there forever and we do know how to brew beer and Mike up on the mountain has a still, designed by me, because he said, you're the chemist, so I guess we can survive and fend off the Infidel Scum. Only problem with eradicating the Muslims is, not enough sharks. They have to be buried to get their 72 old Nuns, so feeding them to the sharks is the best solution.

Patriot Act has nought much to do with stopping terrorism. That is a function of intelligence followed by going after the leadership and supplies. Protection is a function of non-consistent action. Different route, different locations, different patterns. Never predictable. Think of your self as in a globe. Not looking left right back front but also up and down and close far. With the equivalent of .50 cal MG a far ambush can execute, dismantle and move to a new location before the attacked unit can respond and secure the target area.

Translate that into other scenarios, My favorite is a grocery or retail store. While you are looking at something on the end cap of the shelves, you smell the bakery section and hear music that suggests a mood. Good retail stores are money magnet traps. Go for three items come back with four extra...why not I'm here it's on sale? Luring people into a spending sack or a fire sack is much the same thing. Creates a target rich environment.

I recall one store that had phony limited item sale tables. Shopping list forgotten the stampede was on. Five left at half price for the next ten minutes. Now one is surrounded by the real purpose. The other items they wish to sell. Each priced or with a sales tag that has no purpose except sell itself. Ten cent item regular retail a dollar on sale at 80 cents for the next hour 60 cents.

Then the bomb goes off which need not be an explosive. Maybe designed to get max people into a small area at one time.

    Be unpredictable...

France was the site of some really ugly rioting about ten years back when Muslim youths living in a predominantly Muslim enclave on the outskirts of Paris began rioting - burning tires, breaking into shops, burning cars, etc. The problem was twofold: one that these people had moved to France and France's system gave them benefits but didn't require them to actually become French citizens, and two that the police didn't round up the whole lot and ship them out.

Where do you think the terrorists that planned this event got their help? From these "poor, disenfranchised youths".

Immigration must be accompanied by integration or it is invasion.

Religious beliefs alone are not dangerous. They become dangerous when part of that religious belief includes the right of coercion upon others who do not agree with you. That is the danger of Islam: it not only condones coercion of non-believers, it actively promotes it. It even promotes violence upon its own adherents - especially women. I've talked to some who were trying to escape from Iran because of the brutality of coercion. You don't see Buddhists, Sikhs, Hindus, Christians, Wiccans, Druids, etc. rioting or threatening others. Let's not play into the fallacy of group inclusion.

In the end, we all decide individually what we do. We can be swayed as to the value of a course of action, but in the end all decisions are ultimately personal unless one denies the principles of self-ownership and self-determination.

We are all persuaded by others' ideas. To suggest otherwise is self-deception. The real question is whether or not the principles upon which we decide to act conform with the unchanging principles of the universe. It isn't the messenger, but the principle which determines that.

When France let in all the Algerians, they created the European problem, that was back in the early 60's, also let in a lot of Algerian Red plonk, evil stuff. Never trust non-drinkers to make alcoholic beverages. kind of like, why is our chef so thin? Doesn't he taste his stuff, I know I do, and as a result I eat proportionately less.

    Hi there John!
How come you & I are so smart and those who run our governments are so dumb? Pre-attack, France's leaders when confronted by their Muslim population problem stood there like a 4 year old with one hand on their pee-pees and their other sucking their thumbs. Now, as they wade through a river of blood, do we expect a change? We can hope, but don't put your money down just yet. The President of France, Hollande, declared war. Will there be a war without USA leadership? Because, I'm sure that Mr. Obamanation is hiding under his desk.

Why have we had to bail out France for the entire 20th Century? It's because they have this idea that they are better than everybody else when all the are is a bunch of narcissistic nincompoops, starting with De Gaulle. Fearless leader, run. He was just the later one, there were others before. A list of French Military leaders would be about as short as a list of Italian war heroes. .Gotto remember that Catherine de Medici brought her chefs to France and the Italians taught the french how to cook.

We are a hundred years from the WWI the first bailout nvvrnvrind referred to 70 years from WWII, the second instance, in Vietnam they bailed first we got sent in later for other reasons, and now 2015. That is not a good record I wonder why they exist at all. De Gaulle was a politician not a general. Napoleon was, in the end another loser. Charlemagne Roncevilles rings a bell. Other than the French Foreign Legion and Colonial Parachute Battalions and the Naval Infantry Commandos who were the only ones' that went ashore at Normandy in the first waves they don't have a lot to be proud of besides building monuments to nothing. Of course...we're catching up. so ...I have to vote on the side of this comment score is now two.

Don't sell DeGaulle short as a general. As an armored specialist, he warned the general staff they were making a mistake, treating French armor like artillery, spreading it out across the infantry divisions. He wanted to use the armor like cavalry. France had a larger force of armor, and bigger, more well armed and armored tanks than the Germans, and if it had been used the way DeGaulle had advised, the invasion of France might have turned out quite differently.

Or not occurred. Adolf might have considered his western flank secured. The remaining sticking point was the Polish/UK mutual defense treaty but Chamberlain might have had one last hurrah on that one. Hind sight is a wonderful thing..Hitler's Armies, intact versus Russia without US support of Stalin.....hmmmm. Two monsters joining? Might be better off the way it went. DeGaulle was also disliked by my much of the French Military... two minuses equal a plus?

The biggest winner of the Paris attacks? Marine Le Pen and the Front Nationale, the very right wing nationalists. Le Pen has been warning that something like this was going to happen, and has even been indicted for "hate speech" against Muslims. While the French have been leery of Le Pen (as they were of her father before her) as "French Nazis," her audience will now be more receptive to her message.

The Patriot Act??! What a gulla-bull.....
The Patriot Act is there to control the citizens, militarize the police forces (giving the MIC more money), and federalize local and state police forces into one big oppression family.

Every "terrorist plot" that we know of since 9/11 has been a set up by the CIA or FBI. It's a joke.

Finally, seeing as the US (along with Israel and Saudi Arabia) started, funded, trained and is helping ISIS with air power in 4 different nations....do you not think we have some control?

If we would get out of Muslim lands as an invader, I think there is no reason for ISIS to attack the USA. If we dont stop invading other countries and getting in the middle of regional conflicts, then they will come to the USA. I think that the USA government wants that so they can use it as an excuse for more controls over us citizens.

In this case though. Why would ISIS come all the way across an ocean to attack us? There are closer targets to get first. Let them fight ISIS if they want. From what I see it's a regional religious war - Shiite vs Sunni We can't win by getting involved in either side. If we fight ISIS we are siding with Shiite and aiding Iran. If we pull out and ISIS attacks us, we blow them to smithereens

Towel-heads or Sand N*s. Works for me. When I was working in Saudi, when we were drilling into a potential H2S zone the Company man would always post the most worthless employee down at the end of the flowline. I asked him once, why don't you just put a sensor down there. He said, haven't you ever heard of a mine canary? It was always a Palestinian down there because they are the Niggers of the Arab world. Nobody wants them, nobody will accept them and that's why they've been living in camps for 70 years. Nobody seems to recognize that, linguistically, Philistenes and Palestinians are the same people. You lost fair and square at Jericho and you still claim you own the land! Get over it, pull up your drawers and go to work. 70 years of welfare makes Chicago look like pikers.

Interesting... one part is incorrect tho', the Philistines are not the genetic ancestors of today's Arab Palestinians, nor is the language linked (afaik). A Palestinian working in Saudi would be fortunate, the surrounding Arab states try hard to keep them out, for good and bad reasons.
70 years of welfare- just for fun imagine Gaza inhabited by Vietnamese, there would be myriad legal and illegal businesses, a thriving economy maybe or not, but it would not be a global menace.

Odd, that. In my linguistics courses we were taught that Philistenes and Palestinians were one and the same. If the Palestineans are not the same, where did they come from? And why is their language identical? Both aramaic.

Aramaic was a Semitic language widespread in the middle east used for trade and government. lingua franca Some (much?) of the Bible was first written in Aramaic.
The Philistines are long extinct, no genetic survivors. They spoke Ugaritic, an ancient Semitic language.
Palestine, no relation to Philistines except the name came from the Roman Emperor (Hadrian?) who wanted a name for the province and thought that the name of an old enemy of the rebellious Jews would be instructive.
Origin of the Arabs now called Palestinian- that area has long had many different tribes, not just Jews and Arabs. After the moribund Ottoman Empire finally collapsed, the British and Jewish migrants created a growing economy which attracted workers from all round, mainly from what is now Jordan (which was also part of Palestine) and Syria. Worth mentioning that many of the tribes in the area are (were) not Arab nor Muslim.

Diversion- ok laughing at my own joke, Gaza inhabited by Viets, well something like the Lebanese! At least before the Hizbollah takeover.

Good post. the In'shallah attitude never built a supper much less a nation. In Mexico it' s called Ni Modo for no way. But that's pretty much limited to Mondays and is a direct result of Saturday as a regular work day. Ni Modo or San Lunes day is a day of recovery...Notice I don't say that as a joke or laughing. It's a major cultural difference. The answer to it is ni modo ni moneday no work no pay. IF there is a regular job involved. Lots of people willing to work. some hold down two to five jobs or types of income earning per family member.... one the othere hand we just opened a new orphanage three now in my major hang out area. number one cause...abandoned kids where the father went north and never returned or just said ni modo and became single again. Divorce not that hard and there is no such thing as child support yet. Cultural differences.....up north of the border they get welfare and trade it for drugs. kids are still abandoned.

The cultural differences though are far far less than those found in Euro-Afro-Asia the Easter Hemisphere and many within a few kilometers of each other. Still we manage to build our own Gazas but we call them barrios or Washington DC.
