Robert Reich is no friend of capitalism, or getting government off our backs, but he does have an understanding that the media has missed.

Sometimes it's hard to determine who's driving the clown car, the economists or the media, but some of those animals have a distinct sense of survival. Trump is a unique creature, in that he has more sympathy with the blue collar world than the elites of the old New England money, even though he understands very well how wealth works in this country. Reich is simply showing his awareness Trump represents a real threat to the money machine community, because he knows how to throw a wrench in the gears.

Bernie Sanders is a megaphone with nothing behind it, whereas Trump is a warning siren of what weapons he can bring to bear, and the money people are scared of him. Sanders is a reincarnation of William Jennings Bryan, making lots of populist noise, but unable to break down the establishment enough to win office.

Short of an indictment (and maybe in spite of one), Hillary Clinton is guaranteed the coronation of Democrat nominee, so Sanders isn't likely to overthrow the queen (although Reich warns there may be a shock if enthusiasm overrides inclination). Trump may be overtaken by Carson, Rubio, or Cruz, but he will have a heavy influence on a Republican administration, even if he doesn't get the nomination.

I would like to read a whole article on this. Does "the money people" mean the financial industry?

Are you saying Sanders and Trump both come off like extremists or clowns and that Sanders does not have enough support even to change the debate significantly by raising questions but Trump has the potential to be elected? Are you saying he does that by understanding the blue collar world or by understanding the financial system?

Both are loud. To paraphrase Krauthammer, which DrZarkov would note, Sanders is able to win against a room full of invisible millionaires and billionaires, but looks "lost" on stage with Hilary. Trump, on the other hand, could have framed the immigrant issue in a different way. Avoiding the rapist comment altogether, but still going further than most, was possible. Explaining that the US is attracting the wrong immigrants because of it's softening justice system, it's free healthcare and welfare system, and it's accommodation of immigrant languages. A platform of border control and law enforcement, of eliminating Obamacare and other "free" health benefits, eliminating welfare in favor of private unemployment insurance, and enforcing a federal policy that taxpayer dollars be spent on English ballots, literature, etc. would have been a better beginning.

Nope, Reicheis just a different perspective on this mess. Money People is typical political trash talk about the mysterious funders behind "whatever" bad thing they are against. Reiche isjust recognizing Trump has an appeal tothe frustrated people who are taxed for this boondoogle political system, and Bernie appeals tothe "give me all" crowd. There are more "give me all" folks than people paying. Bernie is just as big a grandstander as Trump and neither will serve us well. And don't forget Hillary beast, she will give away the world to get elected, thats all she wants.

Yes, he was a Clintonista, but that makes his assertion all the more strange to hear. He makes a better talking head than a lot of them on the left side of the world.

I just believe you cannot shut out the other side because you dislike them. Even someone like Reiche has some informational value soyou can gauge what the idiots are really thinking. Had more Republicrats not shut out Romney because he wasn't "pure" it might be a different story today. Although I doubt it....
