Why immigration shouldn't be about asylum, but assimilation

Our country will face the same fate if we do not reverse the immigration policies of this administration.

    We don't assimilate (melting pot theory ) in this country. We are too busy slicing, dicing, separating and dividing into manageable control groups and teaching them to hate each other along with promoting sexism, racism and bigotry as national policy. Not to mention running the biggest system of apartheid in the world..

    I am more tolerant than many - For example, I do not have strong objection to people going about with sheets over their heads, my own appearance would be improved by this. I am relaxed by immigrants living in enclaves with their special foods, temples and clothes.
    I do ask for a net economic contribution over time.
    I draw the lines at wife beating, the attempts to blow us up, chop off heads, and violence generally. On top of that is the perception of the right to receive permanent welfare support. The task for our governments and immigration departments is to keep out those who are the obvious troublemakers. Seems easy to me.

      Call me intolerant, but I want more from someone who wants to come live in my country and affect my future. I want them to share and celebrate the values of my country - the things that make it great. If they aren't interested in doing that, I'm not really all that excited about having them as guests, let alone permanent residents. I consider the points you bring up to be a given expectation of anyone visiting this nation, not just a minimum standard of behavior. But what I am looking for are those who exemplify the spirit of this great nation.

      I can understand that they want to get out of the conditions they are in. But if all they are going to do is bring their problems here, I don't see any reason to subsidize that behavior with my tax dollars.
