Good move. Re-Definition is so rampant it's easy to get tripped up in the wrong century, decade, year, month or day of the truth is what we say it is. Even then most don't bother to learn the differences.

guess it's time to post the history lesson again...almost done.

Well, I've learned not to assume that there is a common understanding of terms. It was better to ask.

Not heading anywhere with the post. It was asked for my general knowledge. I thought there may be more to it than my concept of the word "anthem."

Not sure about his point but my connection is with the russian samzidat "We" one of my current in progress reads. Even in English Russian literature takes some thought. So far... a great classic.

the novella is actually an allegorical poem, think greek. an "anthem" is usually a poem or song that "praises." There is deliberate parallel with a religious connotation here, yet the source and goal are not in the mystic, rather in reality. Praising man and his self, ego. I think you probably know this already, so I am curious where you are headed with this post? :)
