DEFCAD files are being removed from public access at the request of the US Department of Defense Trade Controls.
Until further notice, the United States government claims control of the information.

As far as I know, no politician has ever been assassinated by somebody throwing a bag of crystal meth at him, but a few have been done in by left-wing loonies with guns.

How ironic that there are thousands of websites that teach people how to cook meth. Meth destroys thousands of lives. The government does nothing.

the files have gone viral on P2P sites with a file that includes EVERYTHING that was on defcad's site being hosted by over 2000 seeders. of course, this seems to be the point defcad was trying to make in the first place, that gun control is unenforceable if anybody can make a firearm. now the govt has drawn attention to this by trying to shut it down, claiming they "control" the information.... just like the govt in Atlas Shrugged wanted control over Rearden's process... now that it's gone viral, the SD has lost control of it by their own idiotic action.

It is interesting that the files have escaped and with encryption, file-sharing, and other pathways, the genie is out of the bottle. This is only the first proof of concept that has manifested. I'd be surprised if the next design is so openly posted to the net, and when the posting is from a non-US controlled hosting site.. What will the US do then? Outlaw, German web sites?
