Good observations. Nullification applies to federal laws passed that are clearly unconstitutional. In this case illegal immigration and the borders are a federal matter. Therefore sanctuary "locations" (I did not know that it can be entire counties and states) should be easily thrown out. Interesting that this has not happened. As usual the feds get it wrong.

Nullification has been successful in some instances, although, like you say, many die on the vine of a threatened dry teat. In history the Fugitive slave law was an example of nullification, more recently the Real ID thing died on the vine because of the number of states refusing to implement it, and then there is the legalization of marijuana thing going on currently.

They are explicitly rebelling against the laws. In areas where such mayors aren't prosecuted by their respective State law enforcement officials, you can be sure that it is because they have their tacit approval to continue.

I just can't wait until these so-called sanctuary cities experience civil unrest and reap the rewards of their policies. The only problem is that those rewards are unlikely to be confined solely to those offending cities and this is the problem.

I was just reading that there is an increase in stabbing attacks in Israel. The Israelis have learned when they stop the arabs from doing damage the arabs take a new tack. wait and you will see when enough criminals populate the sanctuary there will be an increase in attacks.
I wonder if the populations of these cities were asked if they wanted to be sanctuary cities or not? Probably not!

Sanctuary cities are a form of exercising the practice of "nullification" passively, by pretending that certain Federal laws don't exist. So far, more aggressive forms of nullification (which is supposed to be an affirmation of the 10th amendment, declaring that the Federal government does not have the right to exercise certain powers under the Constitution) have been attempted, but they usually die in state legislatures when the threat of Federal funds withdrawal is considered.

Ironically, protecting illegal immigrants does not fit the legal foundation supporting nullification. The Federal government does have the duty of protecting the nation's borders and economy.

They are a meaningless joke. All it means is the local law enforcement is instructed to not cooperate. Same thing happened leading up to the Civil War on the question of supporting slave chasers under full faith and credit act. One federal marshal with a warrant is all it takes. Trouble is the illegals will take it seriously and La Raza will go all racist on the subject again. Sounds like ACLU to me.

Federal funds used as bribes by the O administration to have these areas turn into sanctuary areas. I'd bet that most are cities, counties, towns in financial trouble and the feds offered to help them for being sanctuary areas.

Who is going into these cities telling them that they have to be sanctuary cites or is the mayor or city fathers saying we have to become a sanctuary city.I find it hard to believe that the elected officials of these cities would want to promote increasing the criminal population of their cities knowingly. Except California that is a sanctuary state. If you did deep enough you will more than likely find that the 0 boy is behind it.
