"There is now an enormous cache of evidence on both scientific and legal grounds that Monsanto in fact conducted numerous studies in the 1970s and 1980s on glyphosate’s toxicity and health risks and intentionally sealed this research from independent and public review and scrutiny.
...
Unable to gain access to research reports and data Monsanto submitted to the EPA through FOIAs, he turned to his senator’s office, who assisted in the procurement of studies and reports he sought. Months later he received a hoard of scientific documents, over 15,000 pages worth, covering Monsanto’s complete glyphosate research.
...
on September 4, Samsel stated that Monsanto used an industry trick to dismiss evidence about glyphosate’s risks in its own research. “Monsanto misrepresented the data,” says Samsel, “and deliberately covered up data to bring the product [glyphosate] to market.”

Yes. Glyphosates are bad, especially for kids.

I remember years back when I worked under a director of engineering at a company. He had a PhD in chemistry. One thing that I marveled at was his ability to tell you what the known effect on a human could be of any chemical you named off. He just knew it. These companies who create stuff like agent orange and glyphosates - they know what these things do. The problems arise when theories start to swirl and then become politicized. That kills the use of science. It's over, then, because it becomes a tit-for-tat, Raiders vs. Packers, kind of argument.

Don't spray this stuff around kids. Don't have them eat it. Jezusmaryjoseph!

I realize that this article references illegal and unsafe crony practices in industry. But as an aside and FYI: I garden organically and instead of Round Up I use a solution of white vinegar, table salt, and a tiny amount of liquid dish soap as a surfactant--all water soluble & biodegradable. It doesn't necessarily always kill the root, but works very well in conjunction with mulch. One would think some innovator could devise a much less toxic commercial alternative to Round Up since we individuals seem to be able to devise all kinds of alternatives on our own.
