UN and US Collaborate Policing (?) US Cities Against "Violent Extremism"

“The Strong Cities Network will serve as a vital tool to strengthen capacity-building and improve collaboration,” said Attorney General Loretta E. Lynch. “As we continue to counter a range of domestic and global terror threats, this innovative platform will enable cities to learn from one another, to develop best practices and to build social cohesion and community resilience here at home and around the world.”

The Strong Cities Network (SCN) – which launches September 29th at the United Nations – will empower municipal bodies to fill this gap while working with civil society and safeguarding the rights of local citizens and communities.

The SCN will strengthen strategic planning and practices to address violent extremism in all its forms by fostering collaboration among cities, municipalities and other sub-national authorities.

“To counter violent extremism we need determined action at all levels of governance,” said Governing Mayor Stian Berger Røsland of Oslo while commenting on their participation in the SCN. “To succeed, we must coordinate our efforts and cooperate across borders. The Strong Cities Network will enable cities across the globe pool our resources, knowledge and best practices together and thus leave us standing stronger in the fight against one of the greatest threats to modern society.”

Hopefully, this "Strong Cities Network" will bog down in the usual paperwork, committee meeting blackhole and they will never get efficient at snappy UN police uniforms posted in the 25 participating cities

    Hello khalling,
Somehow past experience leads me to believe those "violent extremists" will not be who we think they are. It will probably be the Bundys, Branch dividians, and Randy Weavers... and probably anyone supporting the 2nd amendment... militia types.
"A well regulated MILITIA, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." Except of course if the UN says otherwise... The UN is an extremist organization. O is using it as a cudgel and a go-around since he has disdain for our Constitution and separation of powers.
    Regards,
    O.A.

xthinker and I have been debating this. He reminds me the Jade helm exercises came to naught, and cautions me to wean off Alex Jones. Since when has any govt program lessened or tidied up and shut the doors.? I predict a new US agency that will report directly to a large UN committee. I have missed you, my oA. but freshly back to my continent and the 91 degree heat, I'm ready for some great gulch discussions. :)

The u.n. has a track record of failure doing this world wide so that gives them the qualification to come here to do the same. The end of the 0 administration can not come soon enough. freedom for all is correct.

The UN has not been successful at anything... It's like the right-wing conspiracy nuts about government in general... I've been a government contractor for a long time, everything in my observation that can be thought of 'strategy' is really just incompetence.

Under US jurisprudence, the Sheriff of the county is the highest elected law enforcement official at a municipal level, and actually wields quite a bit of power. The UN idiots can't show up and start policing streets without the OK from the County Sheriff. I severely doubt that would happen. Law enforcement, like military, are pretty much 99.9% Republican, regardless who the pretend to support for union votes from.

BTW - one more thing, all that it would take to nationalize all of the pds (including Sheriffs), National Guards and Federal Law Enforcement is one brief phone call from the POTUS.....Forget about Posse Commitatis!

You obviously haven't had too much contact with Sheriffs have you? The one thing that you forgot to mention was that the Sheriff in every state is the Constitutional law enforcement officer. Since you think we "right-wing" conspiracy nuts do not fully understand what is transpiring, I suggest that you start doing some self-education.

In case you aren't aware, there are 5 UN Treaties awaiting ratification in the US Senate (simple majority vote of those present). In addition go out and poll your Sheriff about his (or hers) stance on upholding the US Constitution (the Bill of Rights specifically) including the 1st, 2nd, 4th 5th, etc. You might be surprised that many aren't even aware that is a major part of their job.

Don't go blaming folks who have taken the time to learn what every school child by the time they get to 8th grade should know. No! Ignorance is not bliss especially if you wake up and find your cherished rights trampled on and even destroyed...

Roughly translated from NewSpeak (or UNSpeak):

"Obama teams up with UN to circumvent the 2nd Amendment, as he is attempting to with the 1st Amendment by ceding control of the Internet to the world body."

In his quest to do as much damage to the US before (and if) he leaves office, maybe he's just working through the Bill of Rights one at a time...or is that attributing to much logic to the man?

As others have said, my guess is the UN would just happen to find a whole bunch of "violent extremists" in this one little Gulch here...

I have a love/hate relationship with Galt's Gulch. I love talking, agreeing and sometimes arguing with Objectivists. And some crypto-Objectivists, and some budding Objectivists. I hate the fact that I am constantly reminded of what has become of my country that Gulchers tell me about almost daily. Khaling is just telling the truth. I almost wish he was lying. Am I being overly dramatic? A male Drama Queen? Being an octogenarian I can remember when the country still had at least the trappings of what it once was. The above post and the responses to it show me that there is hardly anything left of the USA of WW2 and even the resurgence of patriotism from 911 lasted less than a year. I want to do what I can to revise my USA but as many persons have said before me, I'm getting too old for this shit.

Ditto, me, too. I'm getting too old for this shit. I hope they take their time implementing this crap, until after I'm gone.
Unfortunately, for me and others of my age, I think it is coming soon. Can't have elections screw up the leftists plans.
      Maybe its just me.

Unfortunately, I believe that this is much further along than anyone realizes! There have been a number of foreign military groups training and are deployed here in the good old US awaiting the order to participate in "Peacekeeping" activities. Wasn't there about 15,000 Russian troops ready to be deployed in FEMA zone 3 (or 4) - DC, Maryland, PA, DE and NJ for the official rollout of Obamacare? The NWO is already here me thinks! BTW, with this administration the only "violent" extremists are those of us who do not buy the bill of goods they are selling.....

I do believe Tea Party me would be viewed as a "violent terrorist" by some because I own firearms.
I even have three throwing knives I can wear altogether in a special belt holster.
Not to mention a bandoleer with lots of 12-guage shotgun shells showing.
    PC ain't me.

Isn't Interpol already supposed to provide international law enforcement cooperation? This sounds duplicative at best, and destined to make real progress more difficult. Who determines interagency jurisdiction, if Homeland Affairs, the FBI, various DoD investigative bodies, and now municipal law enforcement all think they're empowered to act against possible terrorists?
